If you have been smoking for years, or just a few weeks, there are many ways you can drop the bad habit. You have probably heard of various patches and gums but one option that is not as well known is the stop smoking shot.

This shot is one of the alternatives to combat cigarettes once they have become a habit. You will not instantly stop smoking after receiving a shot, but you will be able to reduce gradually.

Do not feel like getting a shot will be a miracle cure. Prepare yourself for a treatment plan that is effective, yet gradual.

If you have failed in other attempts to stop the habit because of withdrawal symptoms, the injection might be something to try.

These shots contain drugs that block the nicotine receptors in your brain. This causes you to see a reduction in your cravings for cigarettes.

However, the drugs in these formulas can be dangerous. Some people have had allergic reactions to the shots.

Most of the shots are injected just behind the ear. It can be a painful place to receive an injection. If you have any fears of needles or aversions to shots, this would not be a good remedy for you.

If you are considering the stop smoking shot and to drop your smoking habit, consult with your doctor. If you have any health concerns, your doctor will be able to tell you whether or not this would be a good idea for your situation.

You may be surprised to learn that there are stop smoking classes in many cities throughout the United States. You can attend a stop smoking class in your area or you can order the materials and study at home.

People who do not smoke or have never smoked might think it is strange to attend a stop smoking class, but anyone who has quit understands how difficult it is. Support is very helpful, whether it be from family and friends, a group or a counselor. Sometimes, just talking to someone can help a would-be ex-smoker resist the temptations and urges that come up on a daily or even hourly basis.

Addiction to nicotine is hard to overcome. Going "cold turkey" can cause uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms that vary from person to person and are hard to describe. Personally, I experienced pulsing nerves, shakiness and moodiness. I felt that it was harder to concentrate and I gained weight.

On the plus side, my food tasted better, my sense of smell became better and my sinus problems went away. I was able to exercise more without getting out of breath so easily. And, I saved money. In my opinion, effective stop smoking classes are well worth the money.

Nicotine replacement like patches and gums prevent the withdrawal symptoms. If you go cold turkey, withdrawal symptoms typically last only a few days. If you can make it through the first three days, it becomes easier and easier. The patch prolongs the addiction and the manufacturers recommend that you use them for at least six weeks.

Some people choose to use a combination of nicotine replacement and counseling or a stop smoking class. Some stop smoking classes even include a kind of "cigarette replacement" for their customers to use while they are quitting.

It might be better to come up with your own personal replacement for smoking, because the addiction to nicotine is only part of the reason that people smoke. Habits are problems, too. And, changing your habits can be difficult.

Usually there are certain activities that "trigger" the urge to smoke. You may want to smoke after dinner, while driving or during social situations. One of the steps for a successful quit is to identify your personal "triggers" and plan to change the way that you have "habitually" responded to them. In other words, stop lighting up and do something else.

Sometimes smoking becomes automatic. You may not have even realized that you lit a cigarette. It can help to keep a "smoking journal", writing down when and why every time that you take out a cigarette. This may even help you to cut back before you quit.

Basically, the steps that you would learn in a stop smoking class go something like this. Choose a date to quit. Make sure it is not a special occasion or holiday.

Plan "how" you will quit. Either by attending stop smoking classes, getting counseling, using nicotine replacement or another therapy. If you need to make an appointment or order materials, get everything together before your quit date.

Identify your personal triggers and come up with healthy habits to replace the smoking habit. Some people exercise more, practice meditation or spend more time on their hobbies.

Remember to eat right, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water and avoid caffeine and alcohol. Drinking coffee or alcoholic beverages are common triggers for people who smoke.

You will also learn about the health risks associated with smoking; lung cancer, throat cancer, mouth cancer, gum disease, heart disease, etc. The Surgeon General has advised that the single best thing that a smoker can do for his or her long term health and quality of life is to quit smoking.

Laser treatment for smoking cessation may sound like an odd approach since lasers are used more for surgeries and cosmetic procedures in mainstream medicine. More common techniques to stop smoking are hypnotherapy, nicotine replacement patches or gum, and acupuncture. Now beams of light are also used in clinics to help smokers finally quit this unhealthy habit.

This new method is used in a similar manner to acupuncture, where different points on the body are stimulated to release endorphins. Theoretically, the endorphins help to alleviate a person's craving for nicotine. Practitioners use a "cool beam" laser, so the patient does not feel any pain. Like acupuncture, the light treatments may require more than a single session to be completely effective. The beams are not invasive and they do not involve drugs or other chemicals. There are no negative side effects to this new method as long as the technician uses proper procedures. A downside to consider is the higher cost of this method compared to traditional ones. One must also note that like any of the other therapies mentioned, there is no guarantee of success. However, for those who have tried the other techniques and were not successful, lasers just may be worth a go.

There are many varying professional opinions online about laser treatment for smoking cessation. Some claim it is not effective and a waste of money, while others cite large success rates for this treatment. In the end, it does provide another viable and safe option to people who struggle to stop smoking for good.

For those who want to quit smoking but have tried everything with little success, this is the answer; hypnosis to stop smoking really works. Imagine being ten times fitter and never being winded again. After many attempts the idea of stopping becomes intimidating because there's always the fear that it won't last and that smoking has got you forever.

So, why would you like to stop; to breathe better, be fitter and feel healthier, but continue to make excuses that keep you smoking, while knowing they are untrue? Because the habit is coming from your subconscious, so no matter how much of an effort you make you are overpowered before you've even realised, this is why cravings are so unbearable.

It isn't true to refer to hypnosis to stop smoking as just another aid to quit; it's not a patch or a piece of gum. For those who want the challenge of using willpower this is one step further. You are going past the level of willpower (the conscious mind), into the subconscious where the habit starts.

With willpower you might tell yourself 'I am better as a non-smoker' but if you were to write this statement as a suggestion and repeat it to yourself or have it repeated to you while in a hypnotic state it would have a real unconscious effect on your behaviour; as it has felt natural to smoke very soon it'll feel natural not to.

There won't be any cravings or any need to overeat; this is again the subconscious mind's habitual response to not getting a cigarette or nicotine. Once you reorganize your subconscious mind it won't be missing anything.

When using hypnosis to stop smoking you can start in a professional session and carry on with self-hypnosis or start with self-hypnosis, it's up to you. With the former you might be able to get a CD recording of the session to help you when by yourself.

Starting with self-hypnosis means guiding yourself; here are a few things to remember:

• Find a quiet place where you can either sit or lay.
• Get comfortable and focus on your breathing.
• Count down from ten to one on every exhale.
• Visualise a place that makes you happy, this will keep you relaxed.
• You may find yourself drifting into a hypnotic state, between asleep and awake.
• Repeat the pre-written suggestions to yourself, remember to keep them progressive, for example 'I am in control and happy' or 'I am happiest as a non-smoker'.
• Conclude by counting from one to ten as you exhale, bringing yourself to a woken state.

Whether you start with self-hypnosis or not, hypnosis to stop smoking will be the best decision you ever make if you are serious about quitting. Medical studies have proven it to be the most successful way to quit smoking forever. By using hypnosis to stop smoking your subconscious will absorb the suggestions and in a very short time you will be smoke-free and happy and healthy once more.

Stop smoking hypnosis is the most effective way to quit smoking. There are so many options available; patches, gum, inhalers, and of course willpower. There is a lot to be said for these methods but hypnotherapy is the best option.

When we start smoking we make a conscious choice to do it. Overtime it becomes subconscious, no longer about how we look or whether everyone else is doing it, it's just something we do, like eating and drinking, it's feels natural. That's why quitting feels unnatural; we cannot comprehend not doing it.

Quitting is hard because we try to quit consciously but the habit still exists in our subconscious mind. Even when using patches or gum, we are still using willpower.

Stop smoking hypnosis is effective because it bypasses the conscious mind and allows positive suggestions full access to the subconscious.

You have the option to start in a professional setting or by yourself, either way the principal is the same. In the professional setting you sit opposite the therapist. They might start by asking why you want to stop, how long you've been smoking for and if you're really ready to stop. Stop smoking hypnosis only works if you feel 100% ready to quit. If there is the slightest hint that you want to keep smoking it will not work.

The therapist will guide you into a hypnotic state, it is like being between sleep and awake. Once in this state you are completely receptive to the hypnotist's voice. They will give you suggestions like 'you are happy as a non smoker' or 'you are free and more active as a non smoker'. Once you are back in a state of alertness you will feel calm and relaxed like you've just woken from a nap.

You can continue having sessions in stop smoking hypnosis with a therapist or go on with self-hypnosis. You should be able to get a CD recording of the session. The best times to listen to it are first thing in the morning and last thing at night, because you're at your most relaxed. Don't worry if you fall asleep while listening, you've dozed off with the suggestions going into your subconscious; it's taking care of itself.

You might choose to start stop smoking hypnosis with self-hypnosis. This is the cheaper option as you only pay a one-off fee if purchasing a CD or download. It also means you don't have to rely on anyone to guide you and you won't have to answer anyone's questions.

You can also use your own suggestions. Remember to focus on what you want not on what you don't want; for example; 'I am happy and breathing better' not 'I want to stop smoking', one is positive and the other is negative. To keep yourself relaxed and focused visualize a place that makes you feel good.

With self-hypnosis you are doing exactly what you would in a professional session, but you are starting by yourself. Don't worry if this sounds daunting, you have the assurance of knowing you understand the process.

It's your health and your choice, and you have complete control over both. You don't need to smoke and once you've quit with this method you'll remember doing it but it'll be a fleeting thought, not an unbearable craving.

There was a time when you didn't smoke and this will be like going back to that time. It's a beautiful feeling knowing you are completely smoke free and that you did it without the stress of willpower. Stop smoking hypnosis is the only way to end your addiction.
