Most of us have absolutely no idea where to start when we want to stop smoking marijuana. It's good that you have made this choice, but if you don't know what you're doing, trying to quit smoking weed can be an absolute nightmare. Therefore in this article i would like to provide you with some tips to stop smoking marijuana.

1) Have a quit date in mind - You need to be totally prepared in order to stop smoking marijuana. Many people make the mistake of thinking they will quit smoking weed as soon as they have finished their current stash. You know as well as me this never works and you end up buying another baggy anyway. The best idea is to set a date approximately one month in the future. Gradually cut down on the amount of weed your are smoking over the next month and then you can completely give up on your "quit date".

2) Try and understand your addiction - Most weed smokers will swear blind that they are not addicted. They will even tell you that marijuana is not addictive! Sorry, but that is just not true. Marijuana is not physically addictive like alcohol, however, it does form a psychological addiction. You are constantly chasing that next "high" and you tell yourself that you will be totally relaxed and at ease as soon as you have a joint! If that is not an addiction, then i don't know what is. I kidded myself for over 12 years that i didn't have an addiction and could give up whenever i wanted! However, i always found myself craving my next hit or high!

3) Make a clean break - In order to stop smoking marijuana it is important that you get rid of all your drug gadgets and paraphernalia. Having items such as papers, grinders, bongs and roach material around you can be just too tempting. Either give all these items to a friend or simply throw them away. When your quit date comes, you want to be rid of everything that you associate with pot. This will make it a lot easier to quit smoking weed.

4) Be prepared for a rough journey - When you stop smoking marijuana, it's tough...really tough. You may have physical withdrawal symptoms for the first few days, but these will eventually go. You may lose your appetite, be unable to sleep and you will be constantly craving and thinking about weed. It is so easy to just give up at this stage and start smoking again, however if you do that you may never quit smoking weed. Just be prepared and understand that it is going to be difficult. Often once you get passed the first 3-4 days, it actually becomes far easier to finally stop smoking marijuana!

With other symptoms like impaired judgment, comprehension, memory, speech, problem-solving ability, reaction time, and driving skills, marijuana addiction can be compared to alcoholism. Smoking the substance can damage your lungs and increase your risk of lung cancer.

You are in luck if you want to break this horrifying habit because marijuana is not physically addicting. For all the above-mentioned effects of the drug, it apparently has no known physical withdrawal symptoms. As a result, discontinuing the use of the substance is very possible and relatively easier than when you are hooked on nicotine. Although psychological dependence develops in a lot of long-term regular users of marijuana, they can be helped by simple therapy and perhaps some hospitalization.

However, getting help to break a marijuana smoking habit is not all that it takes to quit; you have to be determined on your own to abstain. Because it does not draw on your nerves the way nicotine does, it cannot 'cause' you to come back for more. As such, any return to the use of the substance after quitting is most likely a deliberate act, and one that is not in your best interest. The fact that it is rumored to damage brain cells should be reason enough to make you stop smoking marijuana.

Your doctor can really be of help to you in ensuring that you do away with marijuana. A visit to this physician can provide recommendations that will help you to do away with this habit, once and for all.

It is time to prove them wrong.

You have tried the patch, the gum, the lozenges but nothing works for you. The reason is because you are still getting the nicotine into your system. When an addict uses something for a long time and they try to quit, they still have that desire for the drug. These companies that sell these products are making it impossible for you to quit so it is time to seek help from another source. Recognize it as such and move on. One cigarette doesn't have to become a habit. Don't think about that one mistake. Think about all the smoke-free days you enjoyed before it. Think about all the smoke-free days you'll enjoy after it. Armed with these stop smoking tips, some self-confidence, and a little help from your friends, you can kick this habit once and for all.

Smoking excessively can become a bad habit that makes it harder to Quit Smoking. Every year, the age of smokers are getting younger and the smoker population is only increasing. Even teens have adopted the habit due to peer pressure or because they find it normal to do with the adults also smoking by example. What they do not know is that smoking one stick of a cigarette can shorten their lifespan by the minute. The younger the age when they started smoking, the shorter their life expectancy.

Life expectancy shortage due to smoking is mainly because of the adverse effects of smoking to the general health of an individual. It can cause diseases in the respiratory system - lung cancer being one of the most known results of smoking. It also destroys the nerves and the other organs due to the thousands of chemical in one sniff of a smoke. This scenario is very hard to imagine for young smokers to imagine believing that they are still at their prime and cannot be affected by any disease. They fail to recognize the final end result of their smoking.

Fortunately, the awareness organization of anti-smoking had successfully passed a motion for the mandatory posting of actual pictures of diseases caused by smoking in the smoking packaging. This is in the hope of telling the actual possible outcome of smoking to all its current users.

So how do an individual kick the bad smoking habit? It takes two factors to consider to permanently stop smoking and this include the mental and physical aspects of curing addictions. Smoking can be addictive due to the large component of nicotine in a cigarette. Nicotine is as addictive as cocaine and heroin and considered as a bad addiction.

The physical aspects of curing smoking is dealing with the withdrawal symptoms of smoking. Withdrawal symptoms can include irritability, restlessness, and feeling always tense. This is how the body reacts to the sudden lack of nicotine in the system. And so this requires gradual taking out of nicotine from a quitter. This is usually termed as nicotine replacement therapy wherein the smoking habit is replaced with the use of controlled nicotine substitution preparations like nicotine patches, gum or medication. Usually, the dosage of these nicotine substitution is directed in the instructions or as prescribed by the doctor. By and by, the smoking of cigarettes is eliminated with the body gradually adjusting to the lesser nicotine supply from the substitute preparations. This has been one of the most proven tips in quitting smoking.

Another aspect of quitting the smoking habit is by managing the mental challenges of smoking. This is usually done by joining or consulting with related support groups or counseling. One usually joins a community of smoking quitters who can help understand the smoking addiction and slowly persuade the quitter to give up on smoking in the end.

Kick a bad habit for good like smoking takes time and patience. There is no sudden recovery or quitting that is humanly possible without ugly consequences. Take the initial step of quitting smoking to have a longer life.

So you have tried just about every trick in the book; you have given it your best shot but you are still unable to stop smoking. Does this sound familiar? Do not fear there is no real shame, in fact you should feel proud that you can admit to the failure and also the fact that you are attempting to quit smoking in the first place. In this article I will be providing an insight into how I successfully managed to stop smoking those nasty but addictive "cancer sticks".

I had tried and failed on numerous occasions to "give up the fags" but ultimately always went back to smoking them. Around fourteen months ago I took a different stance; used a different strategy if you like, this was a strategy that worked and I am pleased to report that I have not smoked a cigarette since. So what was this strategy? Well I started by asking myself a number of questions.

Q. When I fail at quitting smoking what is the trigger that makes me go back to smoking?
A. It has been when I have been intoxicated, stressed, worried, depressed, tired or angry.

Q. What can you replace the cigarettes with in the future that will help you to "cope" with not smoking in the above situations?
A. This is a tough question to answer and is basically the reason why I kept failing. To start with a realised that to stop smoking I really needed to stop drinking alcohol. Was I willing to do this? Yes, I was willing to do anything to successfully stop smoking.

I also had to find a way of de-stressing; a way to cope with my anger and worries. I decided to become a dog owner and nowadays instead of smoking when tired, stressed, worried or depressed, I take my lovely dog Cassie for a walk. It might sound strange but is helps to clear my head and enables me to think in a much more rounded way. What's more it has helped me to stay off the fags.

My best friend was a two pack a day smoker and I was always on his back about quit smoking, I was genuinely worried about his health. He had recently started to cough on a regular basis, and even he who used to laugh it off and said he would live to 100, had recently started to show his concern. He had started smoking mainly due to pier pressure in his teens, back then it was the cool thing to do. He has a fairly high-pressure sales job and he said it helped to relieve the pressure and stress.

I pointed out, he would not have to worry about the pressure of his job if he were holed up in some hospital with heart problems or some terrible cancer. So I got on the net and downloaded some good info on the effects of smoking, lobbed at his house and gave it to him, I said I was not going home until he read it. It was weird, he had started off laughing and mucking around a bit, saying he was going to build a chimney out the top of his head to let the smoke out easier.

Anyway over a beer he started to read the info I had given him, and as he started to get into it, he looked quite serious and worried and finally said "Maybe I had better stop joking about it eh" and I agreed. Anyway I'm pleased to say that the message finally got through and he said he definitely wanted to quit. And in the coming weeks he gave it a real shot but was having trouble. He said that he had tried to do it without help but could only last for about a week before the nicotine withdrawal kicked in and he bought another packet and started up again.

Then a work colleague told him about the herbal pills that he had used and had worked great. He was serious about kicking the habit and figured it was worth giving them a shot. He had heard about the nicotine patches but did not know anyone that had tried them, so he decided he would go with the recommendation and try the herbal pills first.

I caught up with him at another friend's party, it was six weeks after he started taking them. I was surprised that he was not smoking anymore and knocked back a smoke when he was offered one, saying he was a non-smoker now. I had a bit of a chuckle because I knew up until recently he was a two pack a day smoker. But I had to admire his turn around and was impressed with how the herbal pills had helped him break the nicotine addition, his cough had gone and he said that actually felt healthier already, and he did.

He had been a heavy smoker for more than 10 years and was able to quit smoking with the help of herbal pills.

Stop Smoking Hypnosis can be the key for breaking the multiple addictions associated with smoking. People who try to quit smoking soon realize it is not easy. This is because smoking has several layers of addiction. First there is the mental addiction, then the behavioral addiction and last the physical addiction. Hypnosis addresses all these addictions unlike gum, patches or other stop smoking aids.

The physical addiction to smoking can be very powerful. We not only crave the nicotine in cigarettes, but also the sugar that is added to cigarettes. If you have tried to quit smoking, have you noticed you crave sweet foods? No wonder people gain weight when they quit smoking. Hypnosis can address these physical cravings for sweets and nicotine and eliminate them.

Hypnosis also deals directly with the mental addiction. We create neural pathways in our brain every time we do something. Do that something more and more and we create more neural pathways. This can actually be very usefully for things like driving a car, riding a bike and so on. For smoking it works against us. Just think, every time you light a cigarette you reinforce the neural pathway. With all the thousands of cigarettes you have smoked you now have a neural super highway. Hypnosis will alter these neural super highways and break the mental addiction.

Hypnosis also works on the behavioral addiction. This are the habits that people get into when smoking. For example you light a cigarette after you eat, when you get in the car or before going to bed at night. These behavioral addictions are called triggers and you think of smoking a cigarette when ever you experience a trigger. Stop smoking hypnosis will help you to forget these triggers.

When using hypnosis, you need to want to stop smoking. If you just want to give it a try and see what happens you will be wasting your time and money. Hypnosis is not a magic pill, the motivation and desire to achieve your goal of being smoke free must be there. The reason you must be motivated when using stop smoking hypnosis is because the subconscious mind is in control of whether it wants to except or reject a suggestion. If you do not really want to quit smoking and a stop smoking hypnosis suggestion is given, the subconscious mind will reject it and it will not have an effect. When you do decide you want to quit and start a hypnosis program you will be brought to a very relaxed state. Once you are in this relaxed state the subconscious mind will become open to stop smoking hypnosis suggestions. These stop smoking hypnosis suggestions will act to reprogram the brain for you to become a non smoker.

There are several ways you can use stop smoking hypnosis. The first is to find a qualified hypnotist that works with smokers. This does tend to be the most expensive route, but can be effective if the hypnotist offers multiple sessions and gives you a guarantee. Another way to use stop smoking hypnosis is to buy a cd or download a recording and quit in the comfort of your home. This method is considerably less expensive then seeing a hypnotist and is usually guaranteed. You can also learn self hypnosis for the stop smoking hypnosis techniques. This can be very effective, but there is some time involved and a learning curve.

Deciding to quit smoking is always easier said than done. While your logical mind tells you that a lifestyle change is both beneficial and necessary, your pleasure-oriented subconscious would stubbornly dictate you to go on with your blithe smoking ways. It's always a struggle between wanting to stop and wanting a delightfully toxin-filled puff.

Some would say "once a smoker, always a smoker". This may not be true to all but the adage is certainly understandable as most nicotine addicts just could not stop smoking no matter how badly they wanted to. They could be smoke-free for a period time, but once temptations and peer pressures start to creep in they would resort back to their old habit. What could be worse is that they often do smoking more than they did before quitting.

It would seem to appear that a smoker who wishes to quit smoking is a hopeless case. If you are this person, you may very well be thinking that you're already doomed! Not really. You can actually stop smoking with hypnosis. The subconscious mind, which is the main scoundrel of a successful withdrawal, can be tamed to serve your purpose. With hypnosis, you will no longer need to face the constant struggle between your health and a cigarette.

Of course, the quitting process won't be bump-free ride. In the first day or so your craving for nicotine would still take its toll, but afterward, the craving will just be in your mind. And that is, basically, where hypnosis can do its wonders on you. To quit smoking is to learn a new way of life with new associations.

Hypnosis can aid you in learning this new lifestyle pattern faster; giving you the needed push to pursue a smoke-free life. Instead of having the impression that smoking is a friend, hypnosis will train your mind to consider it a menace, disgust... a disease. In the process, you not only change the way you think, but also change the way you act. In some respect, it is a case of changing the mindset to break the bad habit.

By acquiring the services of a professional hypnotherapist, reinforced with self-hypnosis, one can be victorious in the struggle with cigarettes. It is important to take into account though that despite success stories of former smokers, it is never too unlikely for some people to resort to their old ways and re-emerge as a smoker once again.

This usually happens after a few months, maybe a year, of stopping cigarette smoking. For this reason, it is vital to maintain or engage in periodic meetings with the therapist whenever necessary. Better yet, one may do self-hypnosis every once in a while so as to sustain the process of quitting. It's like recharging batteries once they run low or get empty.

Stop smoking with hypnosis and relieve yourself from the stress of quitting or withdrawal. Hypnosis by a professional, as well as, self-hypnosis can equip you with better coping mechanisms; thus trying to be smoke-free need not be burdensome and difficult to handle. With hypnosis on one's side, the battle with cigarettes can be won with ease.

Maybe you've tried those patches. Maybe you've tried that special gum. Maybe you've tried good ol' fashioned willpower. But no matter what you try, you still can't resist the urge to light up. If you think that it's impossible to quit smoking once and for all, then you don't understand the power of stop smoking hypnosis!

You may not know it, but your urge to smoke is not a conscious decision. Sure, you're the one who's physically buying the pack of cigarettes, pulling them out of your purse, and lighting them up. However, that desire that you just can't seem to shake comes directly from your subconscious mind.

In fact, your subconscious mind is responsible for most of the things you think and do. That's why most of the stop smoking tools really don't work. That gum, patch, and willpower are all aimed at your conscious mind - when the problem is in your subconscious mind.

That's why stop smoking hypnosis is so effective... it targets the root of your problem, in your subconscious mind.

How?

During a quit smoking hypnosis session, your consulting hypnotist will guide you into a deep state of relaxation and concentration - almost like being in a trance. While you're in this state, you will have full access to your subconscious mind, and you will be more open to suggestion - two things that are crucial in helping you quit smoking.

When you go through stop smoking hypnosis, you and your consulting hypnotist will actively work to change the way that your subconscious thinks about smoking. By teaching your subconscious things like smoking is a "dirty" habit, bad for your health, and physically unappealing, your subconscious won't want to do it anymore.

How do you do it?

You may visualize living a happier, healthier life without cigarettes. Perhaps, you may envision a life with more money - now that you don't spend it all on cigarettes. Or, you may picture yourself eating at restaurants that you previously avoided, because they are non-smoking. You may simply program your subconscious to associate smoking with lung cancer and emphysema. A quit smoking hypnosis session can include any - or all - of these things.

No matter what tactic you and your consulting hypnotist decide to use, if your subconscious no longer has the urge to light up, you won't do it.

If you can train your subconscious to be completely turned off by smoking, you may not even go through the physical problems that other people face when they quit - like headaches, and cravings. In many cases, the withdrawal symptoms can be so powerful that people decide to smoke "just one more cigarette" to take the edge off. Unfortunately, it's never "just one", and most of them eventually pick up the habit again.

NLP works so well because it targets and eliminates the cravings to smoke. And it does it permanently compared to stop smoking prescription drugs which only remove cravings while you are on them.
