Everyone knows by now how risky it is to smoke cigarettes, but few know what effect smoking a cigar has. Is cigar smoking less or more dangerous than cigarettes are? Smoking cigars on a regular basis is dangerous for your health. Studies have shown that cigar smoking can cause cancers of the lungs, oral cavity, larynx and esophagus. More recent studies seem to indicate that pancreas cancer is also caused in some instances by cigar smoking. Heart and lung diseases have an increased risk of happening when you enjoy cigars by inhaling the smoke. If you smoke cigars on a regular basis and you usually take in the smoke, your risks of having health problems increase a lot. Smoking just a few cigars each day will increase your risk of getting oral cancer by eight times, compared to a nonsmoker. If cigars are smoked just on special occasions however, we still don't know if there are any significant risks. But, the effects of regular smoking are well documented and known by everyone. Another thing that people wonder about is how addictive are cigars when compared with cigarettes.

A lot of people are curious why people that smoke cigars are less likely to get addicted than those that smoke cigarettes. Since all tobacco products have nicotine in them, they can all produce addiction. You can use chewing tobacco for example, and you can get addicted just as easily as you would with cigarettes, since it contains nicotine. In the case of cigars, the truth is that a lot of its users aren't used to take the smoke deeply in, so they are less likely to get addicted to them. In the case of cigarettes, the effect is opposite, with smokers inhaling the smoke, which makes it absorb faster. But, even if you inhale cigars superficially, there is still a good chance that they will become addicted. You might be wondering why cigar smokers don't do it more often if it's so addictive. First of all, people take in the nicotine superficially when they smoke cigars, which cause a smaller absorption of the nicotine in the body. Second, you can't find cigars as easily as you find cigarettes. In most cases they are considered luxury items, taken out and smoked during special occasions. But, if people smoke cigars regularly, they will surely become addicted. It doesn't matter in which form the tobacco is smoked. As long as there is nicotine in it, it's addictive. Smoking causes serious health problems in the long term.

Depending on how long you have been smoking and the quantity of cigarettes you smoke each day, quitting smoking can be incredibly difficult. For people that have been smoking for a while, there are psychological and physical factors that will influence your thinking. People use all sorts of aids and techniques to combat these factors however knowing why you want to quit and keeping it at the forefront of your thinking can often be just as effective. Knowing the health benefits when you quit smoking can help to motivate you and keep you focused on why you made the decision to quit in the first place.

For instance, if you are doing some exercise in conjunction with your decision to quit smoking, note how much quicker you can walk round the block after a few weeks of quitting. By having measurable results you will reinforce the good decision you made to quit smoking. The same could be said about the condition of your skin, teeth or hands. If you can say or notice that there is a definite improvement then you are more likely to continue with the process and be more committed.

So what kind of immediate benefits can you expect?

Immediate signs will be skin deep. So you may notice less wrinkles on the face. If your hands were marked or stained by cigarette smoke, this will also disappear after a week or so. There will be less interference with your sinuses so you may find that your sense of smell and taste is improved.

Outwardly this may give you the appearance of looking younger and having more energy. You may want to partake in more exercise and have more capacity for it.

Over time, if you continue to refrain from smoking, the chances of lung and other forms of cancer will be diminished. You will also lower your chances of developing lung and throat diseases such as emphysema.

Another immediate health benefit when you quit smoking may be your family's or partner's health. It is thought that passive smoking can be just as devastating to non-smokers. They can suffer from many of the diseases and illnesses that smokers may develop if they are constantly exposed to passive smoke. So the immediate health benefits could include your children and partner.

When I consider the health benefits of quitting smoking I do not even know where to start. They are so many but I will try going through most of them in the paragraphs that follow. When you are a smoker you know you have been cutting down on your life expectancy. You started cutting down on it the minute you smoked your first cigarette.

So when you quit smoking you begin to reverse the process. You begin to add to your life expectancy. The effects of smoking on your health are gradual. They are not immediately noticeable. So don't expect to feel like a whole new person two days after quitting either. The process will take time but your body will eventually get back to its clean state.

When you smoke you put yourself at the risk of falling sick from disease that you would never have had to worry about as a non smoker. Many diseases can be traced back to the effects of smoking. Like lung cancer, and all these other respiratory illnesses. So some of the health benefits of quitting smoking is you never have to worry about these illnesses.

Smokers reduce their chances of recovery from other illnesses too. It takes them a longer time to recover than a person who doesn't smoke. It may not be health related but its worth mentioning. Smoking is an expensive habit. As it becomes more addictive you begin to spend more money on it. So that's another reason why should stop.

Other health benefits of quitting smoking are that you also reduce the effects of passive smoking. Because the people around you are as at much risk as you are. So the best thing you can do is quit. There are easy ways of how to quit and you don't have to worry about relapse.

When it comes to marijuana, most if not all regular smokers are actually very well aware of the damage they are inflicting upon themselves and would also readily admit to it. Somehow, due to the addiction of marijuana, they are willing to consciously lie to themselves about their smoking habits and how impossible it is to stop smoking. This is definitely not true. If you are from this category of people, do make it a point to read this article to the end and uncover the 3 health benefits that you have been missing out.

According to medical researches, it has long been an established fact that marijuana causes severely negative impact to your sleep routine. The quality of your sleep would be compensated by the presence of marijuana because the drug would interrupt the rapid-eye-movement cycle. Thus, you will not be able to sleep well enough for your body to have the necessary rests if you do smoke. Good thing is however, should you decide to quit marijuana; you will be able to get back to the normal condition within a relative short time.

Next, I guess it is a universal fact that smoking will cause lung cancer as well as other breathing-related diseases. With that in mind, wouldn't it be a superb idea to just quit using marijuana so that you can stay away from all those problems? Not only will your lung condition begin to improve dramatically, your stamina as well as energy will also return in no time. On the same note also, prolonged addiction with marijuana can only mean bronchial as well as respiratory illnesses down the road.

Last but not least, many people do not realize that smoking or taking marijuana has a negative impact on your sex life as well. People who take marijuana on a regular basis have often complained of low sex drive as well as abysmal sex performance. This is indeed not astonishing given the fact that marijuana contains substances that affect your sperms negatively and might cause infertility in serious conditions. Perhaps you should take some efforts to educate yourself more on the impact of it in this aspect and make use of it as an enhanced motivation to quit marijuana.

All in all, quitting marijuana requires courage as well as boldness in action. If you are determined to do it, rest assured that once marijuana is completely expelled from your body, things will be back to normal and you will not have to worry about all the negative impacts ever again.

So you've decided to kick the habit? Excellent choice. Quitting is extremely difficult, but with a positive attitude you will be able to succeed. One thing to keep telling yourself is how much your health will improve after quitting, even in the first few hours. Here is a short list of some of the positive things that happen to your body within the first year of giving up cigarettes.

1. Twenty minutes after taking that last puff, your blood pressure and heart rate return to normal. The body temperature of your extremities also returns to normal.

2. After eight hours, the level of carbon monoxide in your system decreases to normal levels while oxygen increases back to normal.

3. After twenty-four hours, your chance of a sudden heart attack decreases.

4. After two days, nerve endings throughout the body begin to heal and regrow. Some amount of smell and taste begin to return.

5. Between two weeks and three months, your circulation will begin to improve and your lung function begins to get better as your lungs begin to heal the damage.

6. Between one and nine months, coughing and shortness of breath will decrease dramatically. You will find it is easier to breath because of less sinus congestion and notice that most of your senses are returning to normal.

7. After twelve months, your chance for heart disease is decreased to about half of that of a smoker. Lungs continue to heal and breathing becomes alot easier.

Now this is just the benefits after one year. Your health will continue to improve as your body naturally heals itself. Many people will gain weight during this time period, so they offset it with more exercise which of course is always good for you anyway.

Stay strong mentally and you should be able to give up the habit of smoking. Make your own list of ways in which your health has improved, and put it some place where you are constantly reminded of the benefits.

There's no doubt that smoking is bad for your health, but is it reason enough to give up smoking?

The answer, according to a general consensus by health officials everywhere is a resounding "yes." Never smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself, but stopping smoking (even after years of dependency) is next on the list. But how can you quit smoking cigarettes after the years of smoking? And is quitting smoking even worth the effort?

First, you have to understand that the effects of smoking start from the first time you draw in the nicotine. The next important factor is that the damaging effects of cigarette smoking continue the rest of your life. You can't turn back the hands of time so that you never pick up a cigarette, but if you quit now, you can lessen the effects beginning at this moment.

Maybe you think smoking cessation is simply too difficult and that you can't accomplish it on your own. You're probably right. Most people find the use of quit smoking products or stop smoking programs to be necessary While it is possible to simply "quit," there's no doubt that smoking is a strong addiction and there's nothing wrong with seeking some stop smoking help.

Recognizing the damaging effects of smoking is probably one of the most compelling reasons to stop smoking. Some people cite the potentially harmful effects of second-hand smoke on family and friends as the reason to stop smoking. Both of these are certainly good reasons, but it has to be accompanied by a true desire to quit. Otherwise, even the most tried stop smoking aids are unlikely to work.

So how do you find out how to stop smoking? Stop smoking hypnotherapy is option that has worked successfully for many people. As is the case with most programs geared to help to stop smoking, the smoker has to believe both in the need to quit and in the program. Skepticism of the smoker and of family can damage the potential benefits of hypnosis stop smoking programs.

Stop smoking hypnosis works largely on the power of suggestion, but don't expect to walk into the hypnotist's office a smoker and walk out never again to desire a cigarette. Quit smoking hypnosis will usually start with an evaluation. That is, the therapist will typically ask questions to evaluate the smoking habit, reasons that it began, and reasons the smoker wants to quit.

If, for example, you're looking for help quitting but have no stop smoking support, it'll be much more difficult to leave the cigarettes alone. If you've always smoked with family or friends after dinner, on lunch break or over coffee in the morning, you have to learn that you can be with the group without smoking. This is one of the biggest reasons that quit smoking help in the form of hypnosis works better than some other stop smoking aids - the focus on distancing the smoker from the need to smoke.

Beware of any free stop smoking programs, even hypnosis. There's usually some hidden fees. Those that "guarantee" results will likely only require that you keep returning for follow-up visits, but will never refund your money.

Finally, keep in mind that there is no "magic" stop smoking therapy. Even hypnosis doesn't work for everyone, and every stop smoking product out there works in conjunction with your own desire to quit.

If you are a smoker, the decision to stop smoking is one of the best decisions you will ever make. This is mostly because of the vast improvements that your health will undergo. Some of these changes will occur in as little as twenty minutes from the time you put out your last cigarette. Quitting may be difficult, but it will certainly be worth the stop smoking health benefits.

There are some short-term stop smoking health benefits that you will be able to see almost right away. Twenty minutes after your last cigarette is extinguished, you will see a drop in blood pressure and your pulse rate. The temperature of your hands and feet will slowly increase to normal levels as your body's blood circulation improves. Eight hours later, your carbon monoxide levels will drop to normal and your oxygen levels will increase to normal. Before the day is done, your risk of heart attack will decrease. At the forty-eight hour mark, your nerve endings and lung cilia will begin to regenerate and you'll be able to smell and taste everything better.

There are also some longer-term stop smoking health benefits. Over the next three months, your circulation and lung function will continue to improve. You'll find it easier to walk and exercise, which will also contribute to improving your health. The worst part of nicotine withdrawal symptoms will be over within the first month, and you will be able to focus more on continuing to improve your health. By this time, your body will have cleansed your lungs of all the remaining toxins in your mucus, so you'll notice a decrease in smoking-related coughing, sinus congestion, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Two years after that last cigarette, your risk of coronary heart disease will have been cut in half and you'll be in much better health than you were when you quit.

Five years later, your risk for a stroke will decrease. Ten years in, your risk for lung cancer will drop to half of what it was when you were still smoking. Your risk of ulcers and cancers such as mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas will decrease. And, finally, after fifteen years, your risk of heart disease and even death will return to a level comparable to people your age who have never smoked. This proves that it's worth it to quit smoking as soon as possible. So if you want to experience all of these stop smoking health benefits, quit smoking and begin your journey to better health today.

Smoking is a very difficult habit to break. In fact, most people that have quit smoking have tried more than once to get rid of the addiction. This is because nicotine is a very addictive substance that rewires the brain and bends it to its will. So if you are considering quitting, here are a few stop smoking benefits to consider:

- Health: This is the most obvious of the stop smoking benefits. As soon as you quit, your body will start rebelling, however, it will also go into repair mode. Your blood pressure will drop right away, your sense of smell and taste will return after a few days and your lungs will start to heal themselves. Your risks of cancer to the lungs, throat and mouth will start to decrease and over the years will become comparable to that of a lifelong nonsmoker. Your risk of heart disease will also decrease. Hardened arteries, high blood pressure and cholesterol will become less of a risk factor. You will also have fewer risks of chronic bronchitis and emphysema. So the chances of you being tied to a low volume oxygen tank for the rest of your life will be greatly diminished. There are too many other stop smoking benefits that fall into this category to list here, but you get the point.

- Sex: Smoking affects male and female sexual processes. Smoking has been shown to increase the risk of impotence (erectile dysfunction) by up to 50%. That is correct! Men that smoke have a 50% greater chance of being unable to perform in the bedroom. This addiction has also been shown to cause infertility in men by affecting the sperms directly. Men are not the only ones that are affected by this. Women that smoke are more vulnerable to having problems getting pregnant. Smoking has also been shown to speed up menopause and to cause the loss of eggs. If they smoke while pregnant, they risk miscarriages, low birth weights and increased chances of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). The stop smoking benefits on sexual health are very important. The good news is that smoking cessation has very fast effects when it comes to these issues.

- Money: This is a stop smoking benefit that is almost a no brainer. If you smoke 1 pack a day at $6.75 a pack (cigarette prices in the US range from $5.00 to $8 or $9 in the northeast) then you are wasting around $2450 a year. Multiply that by the amount of years you have been smoking and you get the picture. But there is more to it than just the cost of the cigarettes themselves. If you try to get life insurance, your premiums will be much higher than those of nonsmokers. Your home owners insurance is also higher because of the risk to your home of catching fire. Medical coverage can also be higher because you are a smoker. There are many ways in which smokers pay for their addiction. The financial stop smoking benefits are substantial and immediate. Your wallet WILL be fatter once you quit. There is no question about it!

Hopefully these stop smoking benefits have presented information in a different light than most articles on the subject. You can benefit health wise, sex wise and money wise if you stop smoking. After the initial difficulty of quitting, the stop smoking benefits will be well worth it. Remember all these benefits when you are faced with a particularly tough craving, or when you feel that your resolve is waning.Be strong and good luck!
