Here are some stop smoking tips that will help you quit nicotine easily and permanently...

Tip #1: Stop relying on old, outdated methods that rely mainly on willpower!

You're ready and dedicated to quit smoking. You're willing to do whatever it takes right? This type of commitment is to be admired but the bad news is... It's not going to be enough!

In our culture struggle is seen as a natural and even admirable process of getting what we want. But when it comes to quitting smoking, relying on will power and determination only makes things worse for most people. You probably know what I'm talking about. Have you tried numerous stop smoking programs and products only to fail time and time again? It's not your fault! You're just following instructions... instructions that are, unfortunately, outdated and just don't work!

Tip #2: You have to truly want a life without smoking more that the cigarettes themselves!

This may sound obvious, but the fact remains that some people just aren't ready to quit. Try to imagine how much healthier and happier you and your family would be if you could kick the habit.

Tip #3: Find a proven method that fine tunes your mind without the need for will power!

In spite of the all the ineffective methods for stopping smoking, there are in fact a few effective ones... ones that DO NOT rely on pure will power or artificial aids.

One such method is called Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and it is without a doubt the easiest and fastest way to quit smoking permanently. NLP fine tunes your subconscious so the desire to light up disappears. There is no will power involved outside of actually following through with the instructions.

To stop smoking without drugs you are going to fight a hard battle, but it is not much more difficult than trying to quit with drugs. But, how do you quit smoking cold turkey without reverting back to cigarettes? You have to fight the mental addiction head on.

The physical addiction is easy to fight. You can simply replace what your body wants with other things. You can replace nicotine with a patch or some gum if you must. The act of holding a cigarette can be replaced by holding a pen or pencil. You can replace the need to have something in your mouth with a drinking straw. Overall, the physical addiction is easily amused by other means.

Fighting the mental addiction will be one of the hardest things you ever do. Your mind has turned smoking cigarettes into a habit that must be done as a part of daily life. To you, the act of smoking is as necessary as breathing or taking a shower. The overall desire to light up and smoke will eat at you and make you want to give up.

This is where you need to dig in, take a deep breath, and exhale slowly. Many times you will find that this simple act can help. You should also add in some exercise to keep yourself moving and your mind off of cigarettes. Instead of smoking a cigarette you should take the dog for a walk or shoot some hoops.

If you truly hate physical activity you should replace smoking with anything you don't associate with smoking, like going out to the movies where you cannot light up. If you want to stop smoking without drugs you are going to need an abundance of willpower, but this is a battle can can be won.

There are several withdrawal symptoms people who quit smoking experience. These symptoms are basically identical to those of depression, which is why some forms of antidepressant medications can be used in treatments for smoking cessation.

Researchers have found that depressed people essentially have the same altered levels of neurotransmitters in their bodies, and too little activity among neurotransmitters in the areas of the brain that control mood and emotion will certainly result in the same indicators.

There are different types of antidepressants, and they interact with your neurotransmitters in different ways. They can change the rate at which the neurotransmitters are either created or broken down by the body, or block the process by which neurotransmitters are recycled and reused. They can block the re-absorption of neurotransmitters into the nerve cells and thereby leave some available to trigger activity among nerve cells, or they can interfere with the binding of a neurotransmitter to neighboring nerve cells, thus leaving the neurotransmitter available for other bodily functions.

Specifically to help smokers trying to quit the habit, MAO inhibitors are ideal because they decrease the rate at which neurotransmitters are broken down by the body so they are more available to interact with nerve cells, or neurons.

In the United States, you can get prescriptions for such MAO inhibitors as phenelzine and tranylcypromine from most mental health professionals, especially when they are convinced that your condition is sufficiently critical. To regulate the levels of serotonin, you may have to take serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors such as venlafaxine or the more common bupropion, sold as Wellbutrin.

Stop smoking antidepressant medications are ideal because they help you bide the rough tide and stay focused while you are trying to quit smoking. Once you are way past the withdrawal phase, you should discontinue the treatment.
