Most of us have absolutely no idea where to start when we want to stop smoking marijuana. It's good that you have made this choice, but if you don't know what you're doing, trying to quit smoking weed can be an absolute nightmare. Therefore in this article i would like to provide you with some tips to stop smoking marijuana.

1) Have a quit date in mind - You need to be totally prepared in order to stop smoking marijuana. Many people make the mistake of thinking they will quit smoking weed as soon as they have finished their current stash. You know as well as me this never works and you end up buying another baggy anyway. The best idea is to set a date approximately one month in the future. Gradually cut down on the amount of weed your are smoking over the next month and then you can completely give up on your "quit date".

2) Try and understand your addiction - Most weed smokers will swear blind that they are not addicted. They will even tell you that marijuana is not addictive! Sorry, but that is just not true. Marijuana is not physically addictive like alcohol, however, it does form a psychological addiction. You are constantly chasing that next "high" and you tell yourself that you will be totally relaxed and at ease as soon as you have a joint! If that is not an addiction, then i don't know what is. I kidded myself for over 12 years that i didn't have an addiction and could give up whenever i wanted! However, i always found myself craving my next hit or high!

3) Make a clean break - In order to stop smoking marijuana it is important that you get rid of all your drug gadgets and paraphernalia. Having items such as papers, grinders, bongs and roach material around you can be just too tempting. Either give all these items to a friend or simply throw them away. When your quit date comes, you want to be rid of everything that you associate with pot. This will make it a lot easier to quit smoking weed.

4) Be prepared for a rough journey - When you stop smoking marijuana, it's tough...really tough. You may have physical withdrawal symptoms for the first few days, but these will eventually go. You may lose your appetite, be unable to sleep and you will be constantly craving and thinking about weed. It is so easy to just give up at this stage and start smoking again, however if you do that you may never quit smoking weed. Just be prepared and understand that it is going to be difficult. Often once you get passed the first 3-4 days, it actually becomes far easier to finally stop smoking marijuana!

With other symptoms like impaired judgment, comprehension, memory, speech, problem-solving ability, reaction time, and driving skills, marijuana addiction can be compared to alcoholism. Smoking the substance can damage your lungs and increase your risk of lung cancer.

You are in luck if you want to break this horrifying habit because marijuana is not physically addicting. For all the above-mentioned effects of the drug, it apparently has no known physical withdrawal symptoms. As a result, discontinuing the use of the substance is very possible and relatively easier than when you are hooked on nicotine. Although psychological dependence develops in a lot of long-term regular users of marijuana, they can be helped by simple therapy and perhaps some hospitalization.

However, getting help to break a marijuana smoking habit is not all that it takes to quit; you have to be determined on your own to abstain. Because it does not draw on your nerves the way nicotine does, it cannot 'cause' you to come back for more. As such, any return to the use of the substance after quitting is most likely a deliberate act, and one that is not in your best interest. The fact that it is rumored to damage brain cells should be reason enough to make you stop smoking marijuana.

Your doctor can really be of help to you in ensuring that you do away with marijuana. A visit to this physician can provide recommendations that will help you to do away with this habit, once and for all.

Many people who decided they want to quit marijuana have no idea where to begin. This article discusses some simple steps you can take to begin the journey of quitting marijuana. Take the first step and set a quit date, then write it down!

Set a Date to Quit Smoking Weed.

The purpose of setting a quit date, is to allow yourself to get mentally and physically prepared to quit smoking marijuana. Your quit date should be an actual date. It should not be when your stash runs out, or roughly a week before the next semester of school starts, or next month. It is important to nail down the date. In my personal experience, before I learned to set a date that I would stop, I used to smoke my stash as quickly as possible. I did this because I convinced myself that each bag was my last bag. When my bag ran out, I would buy another one, and smoke it just as quickly, convincing myself that it was also the last bag. Does this sound familiar? I recommend setting your quit date, within one month of the current date. If you wait any longer, you are less likely to follow through with your goal. It is a great idea to set your quit date just before a vacation begins, or other major event. Quitting Marijuana is a lifestyle change. If you attach it to another lifestyle change, you are more likely to be successful.

Understand your Addiction.

Marijuana addiction is a controversial topic because people fail to differentiate between a physical addiction and a psychological addiction. While marijuana has physical withdrawal symptoms similar to that of cigarettes, it is the psychological aspect of the addiction but most users struggle with. Long-term marijuana smokers are in the habit of smoking pot every day and are used to being in a stoned mindset. While you do not have a physical need for marijuana, you do have a mental need to get high. that's the tricky thing about it. It's not that you're addicted to marijuana, it's that your mentally addicted to being high. the more we smoke, the more our brains get used to being high, and the more we crave that state of mind. he will go through a mental battle when you stop smoking weed. You need to prepare for battle.

Get Rid of Your Gear

Marijuana smokers have lots of great gadgets. You may want to give all of your supplies to friends, or you may wish to throw them away or break them as a symbol of your resolve to stop smoking weed. Whatever you do, clean your environment so that there is no trace of marijuana or of marijuana related equipment. Cravings are easier to resist when there is nothing immediately in front of you. People will do some strange things to get stoned, including smoking pipe resin, checking the cushions for weed crumbs and roaches, or even digging through the trash to find the last scraps they threw away. I will admit, I have done all of these things in the past.

Be prepared for withdrawal.

Not being prepared for marijuana withdrawal is the number one reason that people fail to quit smoking. If you've got a quit date set, you're already ahead of the game, because you know when you will be going through withdrawal, and you'll be prepared. Anxiety is very common in the first stages of withdrawal. For example, you have probably been through a time when you just run out of pot and have made plans to get more but it didn't work out. You are on edge and jittery until you can secure a new supply, or at least get stoned. Multiply this by 10 times, you will have an idea of what the anxiety can be like if you are unprepared to quit for good. Insomnia and loss of appetite are also common in the first week of quitting. Do your research on what withdrawal will be like so that you can be mentally prepared to face these problems when they arise after you quit smoking weed.

Are you ready to quit smoking pot? It was cool when you were younger, but now it's physically and mentally tiring, not to mention expensive. But quitting seems difficult. I mean, you've been doing it for years, how are you going to deal with the cravings and withdrawal symptoms? It's not as hard as you may think.

You see, all of these thoughts that are floating around in your head are one of your biggest obstacles that you are going to have to overcome. Marijuana doesn't pose the same chemical addiction as most drugs. Your addiction to marijuana is more mental than physical. It doesn't mean the quitting marijuana is easier than most drugs, it just means that the mental component is going to be where the biggest battle takes place.

Marijuana only causes mild chemical dependence. THC, the chemical in marijuana that causes the "high", is very harmful to your body. After prolonged smoking of marijuana, you have a greatly increased risk of cancer, memory loss, and slow cognitive ability. People who are addicted to marijuana do not perform as well at their jobs or other activities as those who aren't. It does have a significant impact on your mind, health, and life.

Once you quit smoking weed, a whole new world will be open to you. Jobs, friends, and other things that you were restricted from while you were smoking will be available to you. You will feel so much better about yourself not only because you are a non-addict, but because you had the willpower to quit smoking weed.

Take it one day at a time. It may not be easy to quit smoking weed, but being prepared and setting daily goals will help you succeed. You will be surprised how much easier it will be to quit smoking weed if you set small goals and stick with them!

It feels almost silly, and it's not as if you're a heroin junky or anything, shouldn't you just be able to quit marijuana when you want to? Marijuana is addictive. It's not as addictive as narcotics or cocaine, but since the potency of the drug has increased so much over the last decades so to has marijuana become an addictive substance; and when you try to stop, as with an addiction to any drug, there is a syndrome of detox.

Marijuana detox pains include insomnia, irritability, headaches, nausea and others, and all are combined with an incredible carving to use. Detox is real, and it's tough enough that a lot of people just can't get past the first week of abstinence, and in a moment of weakness just light up that joint that they know is going to make all the pain go away.

You can beat an addiction to marijuana, here's how.

1) Get off the couch

Seriously, it's the last thing that you'll feel like doing, but a day of play station in a darkened room does not bode well for your quest at sobriety. Don't spend the day brooding and moping, force yourself to get off the couch, and get out and do something active.

Do something that you don't associate with marijuana, do something active, do it with sober friends and choose something that's going to last all day and hopefully tire you out. You only need to make it through 3 or 4 days to get through the worst of it, so you only need 3 or 4 good day long activities and you're done.

2) Exercise

It's the depression, the anxiety and the insomnia that get most of us when we try to quit, and there aren't any medications that really work to better these symptoms of detox. Thankfully, simple vigorous exercise can help a lot.

You'll feel lethargic and you won't want to get out and get active, but once you do, you'll get your heart rate up, start the endorphins pumping and you'll start to feel a lot better, a lot less depressed, and if you exercise for long enough, you might just tire yourself out enough to get to sleep at night!

3) Go to a meeting

This last one seems extreme, and most of us who get addicted to marijuana still don't consider ourselves addicts like those people that need NA. Bu we've got to face the facts here, and if you are addicted, you are an addict, and that's exactly the kind of people that benefit from NA meetings.

You may not have to go forever, but meetings are free and there is little harm in giving it a try; and who knows, it might help a lot. It might make the difference. Marijuana addiction is real, it's tough to get past it, and there aren't really any medications or therapies that can ease the pains of detox. You just need determination, you need to get active and you need to get a little support to see you through.

You can do it, it will be worth it, and you'll feel much better, much more energetic and far sharper once you no longer need to smoke pot at all hours of the day. You only live once, and once marijuana becomes more harmful than enjoyable, you've got to face facts and get sober.

A common misconception about marijuana addiction is that like cigarettes and some hard drugs in that the body develops an addiction to a chemical and if deprived of it brings on serious physical cravings that can near incapacitate some people. This is however totally incorrect and is one of the main reasons people misunderstand the addiction and fail when trying to quit? So what is the secret on How to stop smoking marijuana? Why am I addicted to a non addictive substance? The answer is psychological.

Since your body has no desperate need for pot the addiction this creates is mental or psychological. Psychological addiction stems from a person's addiction to the high that an action creates; gambling addiction is the same when people are addicted to winning and even shopping can be a psychological addiction when people get addicted to finding bargains and buying nice things even if they will never use them. In the end they are all similar in that this high becomes something a person wants so much they believe it is a need and will continue to smoke pot because they think they cannot do without it and continue chasing the high.

However to combat this we need to go even deeper and look at why that initial addiction to that high began. What drove you to start smoking and what drove you to continue smoking. Some people simply fell into it because their friends all smoked, others use pot as a was to escape stress or to escape from abuse and others still smoke marijuana because they lack direction in their lives and it feels like an easy way to waste time which they find they cannot escape from. There are as many reasons for addiction as there are addictions meaning everyone is different but the common link is everyone one needs to understand their addiction and the cause before they can really learn to quit forever.

If you can find these reasons then you can start taking action to stop smoking marijuana. Some methods include meditation, finding rewarding hobbies, exercise, finding different social groups and so on. These solutions often have to be hand tailored by the addict so they can fill that time they spent smoking with other activities that are healthy and bring a sense or reward without being high. Though some have to be careful they do not simply pick up a replacement addiction which can be just as bad.

So how to stop smoking marijuana is actually how to understand all aspects of your addiction and then finding the willpower and help you need to fill your life with healthier and better things. good luck!

There is much controversy surrounding marijuana and depression. Some people say it helps the depressed to get rid of the symptoms if they smoke weed, other people claim that marijuana just adds to their illness. I wanted to write this article to let you know what happened in my case as I used to be a depressed marijuana smoker.

It seems like it helps.

When you're depressed, you really don't care about much. You don't even want to do anything or see anyone. I remember there were times in my life when I didn't even want to leave my bed. I know, it sounds scary and strange but it's true. You really lose the drive for life.

As you probably know, weed makes some people very happy, and to be honest with you, when you first start smoking it, you actually feel that it's helping you a bit. You start to regain the desire to go out and actually do something productive. You start looking at the world in a more positive way...

Then the dreadful day comes...

Unfortunately, after using weed for a long time you start to feel that marijuana and depression build on top off each other. The more you smoke, the more depressed you get, which obviously causes you to smoke even more. It becomes a vicious circle.

What's more, if you smoke enough, you can't really perform all that well. All you do requires a lot of effort and it just seems like your general ability to do things is much lower than it used to be before you started smoking. I know this sounds wild, but again, it's true.

You can regain your ability to function properly!

So, speaking of marijuana and depression, I don't think weed is a very effective way to fight depression. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It might seem like you're doing better at first if you smoke, but then after some time things get much worse than they were before you first started.

Of course, I can't make you to do anything. After all, it's your life and you're responsible for it, but I would like you to at least consider becoming clean. When you do, it will be a great achievement that will definitely make you feel great about yourself and might even serve as a basis to getting rid of your depression all together. This was my path, and I am enjoying my first winter, without the winter blues!

If you are ready to stop smoking marijuana there are many paths you can take to get that help. Overcoming addiction to any drug though is not something that is advisable to do on your own. You need some sort of support system in place in order to successfully stop smoking marijuana and move on to more productive pursuits in your life.

Quitters Really Do Sometimes Win

One of the first things you need to do when you are ready to stop smoking marijuana is overcome the negative connotations associated with quitting. Once you've stopped smoking pot you will find that there are many experiences that your addiction to weed robbed you of. It's actually liberating in this instance to quit and overcome the bonds of addiction.

Eliminate Denial in Order to Stop Smoking Marijuana

One of the most difficult things to do is to realize the toll that smoking pot is taking on your life. There are many excuses you will come up with along the way to try and convince yourself that you do not need to stop smoking marijuana. The truth is that none of these are valid when compared to the many benefits that go along with stopping today.

Smoking weed may not make you a raging maniac, this drug works in other ways. It literally steals away your motivation. Can you imagine the improvement of your status in life if you simply stop smoking marijuana for good? If you are ready to take that important step and regain control of your life there are some tools that can help you overcome your addiction.

NLP and Marijuana Addictions

Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) work to change the way your body reacts to addiction. This helps you stop smoking marijuana because you learn to overcome the things that trigger your need to smoke pot as well as the temptation that smoking pot presents.

NLP works within your mind to overcome these things instead of putting you at war with your mind. When you become aware of the things that trigger your need for weed, you can move past them and take the first real steps necessary to stop smoking marijuana once and for all.

It is never easy to overcome addictions-even with help. NLP and hypnotherapy, when used to assist you though, can be extremely important tools for making your efforts to stop smoking marijuana much less difficult by restoring your control over your mind and making the pains of withdrawal much more manageable.

If you are struggling with drug addictions, help is close at hand. You do not need to struggle with your addictions alone. Even better though, through NLP you can get the help you need to stop smoking marijuana without burdening friends and family with your addiction. However, the support of friends and family can make the NLP treatment process even more effective when it comes to helping you stop smoking marijuana for good.

For many years now, hypnosis has been shrouded in mystery. The reality of the situation is that it is just a very powerful way of using your imagination and your day dreams to assist you in making changes. Today it is being used to help people quit smoking cannabis and to take back control. From what hypnosis is, to how it deals with the subconscious mind, to who is in control during the session. This article will be an introduction to using hypnosis and self-hypnosis to quit marijuana.

For many people when they think about the subject of hypnosis they think about the popular stage acts that cross the country. These performers use hypnosis as a framework around a show that uses the audience to preform various feats, jokes and acts. Other people think of the movies where a hypnotist is able to completely control another person with his influence and power, even in unethical ways. In the context of therapy, self improvement, and using hypnosis to quit smoking pot, this is all completely different.

The Basics Of Hypnosis

Hypnosis is nothing more then a very powerful and effective way of using the imagination to accomplish certain things. The definition of hypnosis is generally accepted as the bypassing of the critical factor of the mind, so that communication can happen with the other deeper subconscious mind. To help a person quit weed, hypnosis is used to bypass the part of their mind that might think, reason, evaluate or judge the powerful suggestions they receive during the session. This way, the suggestions are accepted and acted upon not by the conscious mind, but the unconscious mind.

The Deep Subconscious Mind

The unconscious part of your mind is the part that deals with your breathing. It keeps your heart beating and all your senses awake and aware, even when your conscious mind is off somewhere doing something else. When you drive a car, it is the unconscious parts of the mind that takes care of all the things going on around you. This way you can still carry on a conversation while driving down the road at 100 kilometers an hour. When a hypnotist tells a client to "Sleep!", instantly the conscious mind is suspended long enough that they can listen to the suggestions and install the new believes that force them to quit smoking cannabis. When it is done properly the effect is almost instant. However there are many people who have a fear about loosing control while in trance.

Fears And Misconceptions: Who In Control?

The reality of the situation is that a person's main resistance to going into a trance and accepting suggestions to quit marijuana is fear. The more fear a person feels about being hypnotised, the more challenge they will have to endure to change themselves. The fact remains that all hypnosis is really just self-hypnosis, the trick is eliminating the fears and the misconceptions before hand. In the end it is only you that can change and heal yourself. You can't change other people, but you can change yourself.

If you believe in yourself enough to take the advice and suggestions from someone who knows how to help you, quitting pot will be easier then you ever imagined. When you understand exactly what hypnosis is, how it powerfully affects your subconscious mind, and how ultimately it is only you in control. You can understand one thing, that you and only you can grant a hypnotist permission to help you to make the change.

So how to stop smoking marijuana is actually how to understand all aspects of your addiction and then finding the willpower and help you need to fill your life with healthier and better things. good luck!

If how to stop smoking marijuana is a question you have been asking yourself for a while but have never found the answer then you may just be psychologically addicted to smoking pot. This is different to some other drug addictions which come with physical dependency and very painful withdrawal symptoms.

Those addicted to weed often continue doing so because of a small four letter word that has crippled many people's lives: FEAR!

This can come in many shapes and sizes but they are all designed by your subconscious to keep you hooked on a habit that is inhibiting you but you still do it because it is an easy crutch, an escape from reality and even when you know you need to quit smoking pot and know all of these things that first step is so hard to take when fear makes you go cold and makes your stomach roil and tie itself into knots.

Some people fear that they might fail when they give up pot, some fear they might lose social connections that might have been formed over a bong but one of the biggest things to hold back addicts is a fear of success.

Why would anyone fear success!

Well that is an interesting question and the simplest answer is that a fear of success is actually a fear of CHANGE and a fear of the UNKNOWN. People fear treading into places they have not been, what will it be like? How will I live my life without pot? How will I relax? Does this mean I have to be more responsible? If you travel down that path you can see how the mind and your addiction can twist your thoughts to say no... you don't want this even when deep down you know you must.

So what is the answer to overcoming these fears? Again a complex question with a million answers but there is one tip on how to stop smoking marijuana is to take a single step. Take a single action no matter how scary it is and get started, one single step will not bring the world crashing down. Make it an easy one, make it a simple one just do SOMETHING and do it TODAY!

There are many things being said about marijuana dependence. Some people say it's harmful and some say it does you absolutely no harm. The truth is that marijuana is a drug and just like crack, heroin or any other hard drug, it will hurt you if you use it. There are a few things you need to know about pot and I'll try to share these things in this article.

1. People are psychologically addicted to marijuana, not physically.

Since the addiction to marijuana is psychological instead of physical, marijuana dependence can be broken using methods like meditation and hypnosis.

2. Marijuana makes you perceive the world differently.

I am sure you've heard about the visions, illusions and other things happening to pot smokers. Those things seem harmless, but if they happen a lot, they can actually cause anxiety, paranoia and schizophrenia or even depression. You become disconnected from reality.

3. It's not that hard to quit smoking pot.

Now, don't get me wrong. It's not going to be a piece of cake for you to quit, but it's much easier than you probably think. There is much help available, both free and paid, that will not only assist you as you create a plan to get clean, but also will make sure that the plan is properly executed so that you are actually successful with your therapy.

4. There are side effects to quitting marijuana.

I mean, just think about it. You've developed marijuana dependence. Your body needs it, or should I say your mind needs it and so your body "thinks" it needs it too. In any case, you're extremely used to it and your body is going to react to not getting it.

What would the withdrawal symptoms look like?

Well, that's a little hard to say as everyone goes through this a little differently. The one thing that is actually pretty common among people that have tried to get off that drug is insomnia and other sleeping problems. The only reason I am telling you this is so that when you quit and you can't sleep, you don't get too stressed out.

Other withdrawal symptoms that might be a little less frequent are shivers, excessive sweating and irritation which are not dangerous at all but can be very annoying.

Marijuana dependence is beatable and if you try, you'll break it. It won't be easy, but it will definitely be worth it.
