If you are one of the millions of people who have tried or are trying to quit smoking, you know that you are most likely going to need a bit of help if you are going to be able to put down the cancer sticks for good. Fortunately, the medical community has clearly come to understand the dangers of smoking, and even second-hand smoke, and that has resulted in the availability of a variety of products that can help you quit once and for all. One of the smoking cessation techniques that is gaining in popularity right now is the quit smoking injection. That's right, in addition to lozenges, gum, and patches, there is now another method to help you quit.

The quit smoking injection is done under the care of a physician; you can't just go to the drugstore and buy a needle and jar. For some, this might be a down side to the shot method, as it requires a doctor's appointment or two and can be expensive. For others, the idea of being in the caring hands of a doctor makes them feel more secure in the treatment.

The quit smoking injection does not contain a lot of nicotine like patches and gum do. Instead, the shot has only a minuscule amount of nicotine; it is not intended to be a part of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). The injection is a different drug altogether; it is called varenicline, and it works by blocking your brain's ability to react to the nicotine in your cigarettes. If the brain does not get the satisfaction it once got from smoking (nicotine), the habit becomes less fulfilling and easier to break.

The quit smoking injection is the latest, and some say the greatest smoking cessation product to come along. If you have tried other methods for quitting and been unsuccessful, you should talk to your doctor about getting the quit smoking injection.

Most of the therapists or counsellors in these clinics are actually ex-smokers as well. Thus, there is an instant understanding there and definitely no pre-judgments would be made whatsoever.

The familiarity that these people have towards the emotional and physical state of every smoker can be one of the key factors as to why it works effectively. When one understands the problem, he is in a better position to help. After all, who better to support each other than the ones who have gone through and who are going through the same thing.

These quit smoking clinics help the person through the use of regular therapy sessions, counselling as well as interaction with fellow smokers and their therapists. The first phases of quitting smoking are considerably the easiest as this is the time when the smoker is the most motivated about the process. He or she would most likely be very excited and happy to have begun the process that they would probably making vows to themselves never to touch a cancer stick ever again.

However, after this phase, many would feel the need to start smoking again. This is usually due to the stress of the withdrawal symptoms. During this time, counselling and proper motivation is most needed. The smokers would have most likely developed a good trusting relationship with the counsellor by this time and it is also possible that he or she has become quite dependent on them.

Thus, during times when they have the urge to light up, the therapist needs to be there to talk them out of it and remind them of why they are in that clinic for in the first place. So, if you have tried all possible means except the quit smoking clinic, you may want to give this option a try. A quit smoking clinic might just do the trick for you.

The health hazard label on every cigarette pack is very clear. Yet there are millions of people who know it and still continue putting their health at risk. Everyone knows smoking is not healthy. Because of it's addictive nature few have the motivation to fight the uphill battle to give up the "smokes".

Although a countless number of people can be seen addicted to this, there are still some who are willing to quit smoking. This can be rather difficult, especially because of the unpleasant cravings they get and also the nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Quit smoking aids are necessary during such situations in order to reduce the cravings and addictions.

The advantage of living in a world with high technology and having a globalized market is that a wide variety of quit smoking aids can be easily found. Some of the most commonly used quit smoking aids can be stated as nicotine gum, nicotine patches, lozenges, inhalers, medications, hypnosis and herbal remedies, nicotine nasal sprays, etc.

Not everyone can use nicotine patches or gum as it will not work the same way. It varies from one another. Quit smoking aids help a person stop their unhealthy habit of smoking and also relieving them the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Some of the noted quit smoking aids in the market have been stated as Zyban and Chantix. Zyban is not advised to be used by everyone although it is known to reduce the discomforts associated with nicotine withdrawal. There are some who have made an effort, yet have been unsuccessful in quitting smoking. For individuals like that, Zyban has been the answer as a means to stop smoking once and for all. There have been certain side-effects linked to the drug that include having a dry mouth, dizziness, migraine headaches, insomnia and a change in appetite.

Chantix is another quit smoking aid that many use today. Using this has helped reduce the level of satisfaction that many smokers used to derive in the past and also minimize the nicotine withdrawal symptoms. People who use Chantix find it an easy, painless process of supporting their goal of quitting smoking. The pleasure of smoking melts down and as a result, they become reluctant to take another puff.

What if there is a better way that does not involve drugs, patches or will power? If their was a magic pill then smoking would be drastically reduced in our country. There is not one. However, I've stumbled upon a treatment that is proving to be very successful. It is laser treatment for smoking cessation. Cold Laser Stop Smoking Therapy is a non invasive holistic procedure. It has been used in Europe successfully for 30 years with an 85% success rate. The laser treatment is applied on several external points and stimulates nerve endings underneath the skin on the ears, face, and hands. It works with the meridians in the body bringing balance to organs that may not be functioning at optimal levels. The Laser stimulates the release of endorphins which work on relief of stress and pain in our system, producing a feeling of well-being. The only drawback I can see is that you can't do this at home. You must go to a local laser treatment center. So, before you give up on being able to stop smoking give some thought and do your research on this nontraditional treatment for smoking cessation.

To stop smoking is hard, and most smokers cannot quit - and if they do - it is only for a short time. More and more people are getting into the natural way of doing things anymore, and using herbs to stop smoking is a very popular method for smokers today. Those who have been able to quit smoking with using herbs as a preventive, swear by them as a successful aid. They help in combating the withdrawal symptoms that every smoker faces when he tries to give up smoking. Among other things, the herbal cures lead to positive mood swings and reduce the urge to light another cigarette.

One of the natural substances that can be used by people when they want to quit smoking is Lobelia, or Indian tobacco, an old and controversial herb that has recently become popular to smokers who want to quit the habit and cannot. Used for centuries as an expectorant that cleans the lungs, it was used for asthma, bronchitis, whooping cough, or pleurisy. Many uses are connected with Lobelia - relaxants, antispasmodics, diaphoretics, reducing inflammations and pain, poultices, hyperactivity, easing muscle tension or convulsions - which go back in history until its recent popularity today. Many believe it makes the taste of regular tobacco "repulsive" while other naturalists use it to clam the nerves and relax the body muscles, easing mild depression. Lately, current evidence suggests the herb Lobelia can produce similar effects on the human body as nicotine, yet is not addictive and helps eliminate the desire to smoke. There is trouble when it is overused, such as vomiting, drowsiness, weak pulse, and respiratory failure.

Another herb is the Mimosa tea ("mimosa hostilis"), a perennial evergreen shrub that is native to northeastern Brazil and also found in southern Mexico. The root bark is the choice part of the plant, traditionally used in the preparation of a psychoactive sacramental beverage. Giving up smoking may make you feel anxious, or give you a headache but a strong cup of Mimosa tea can boost your mood and help you calm down. It is not addictive and is recommended for use instead of anti-depressant medicines. Similarly, the traditional Chinese CaoSu herb diminishes the desire to smoke.

Smoking non-tobacco cigarettes look like regular cigarettes and are available in many flavors like burnt sienna and menthol. They offer the same sensation while smoking as regular cigarettes but are healthier because they don't contain nicotine or tar. However, you must consult your doctor before taking these or any herbal medicines, because many of them may contain substances similar to drugs. You must also eat lots of raw or lightly steamed fresh fruits and vegetables, drinking lots of water, fruit juice, herbal tea, etc, to flush out the nicotine. Try taking hot baths, whirlpool baths, and saunas. These make you feel better, and reduce the urge to smoke. Another way to fight the craving for nicotine is to chew on a large flavored toothpick, or squirt juice into your mouth. Similarly, drinking herbal tea, which is made from five different herbs, can help you to fight the urge to smoke.
