Some smokers trying to quit the habit are criticized for trying the various quit smoking aids that are available these days. It's inferred that their willpower is weak because they can't quit smoking cold turkey. But that's rather like saying one diet suit all people, which we know is not true.

It's a well known fact that a dietitian will formulate different diets for different body types and metabolism's, so why should the rules for those trying to quit smoking be any different, well they shouldn't. It's great when we hear a smoker has quit cold turkey, it's quite an achievement when you consider the addictive nature of nicotine. But what's more important, how you quit or the end result, of course it's the end result that counts. So if three different smokers use three different methods then who cares, they are all winners.

It's probably true that going cold turkey is a quicker way to beating the smoking habit, due to the fact that the nicotine remains in your system for a shorter time following quitting. Many of the quit smoking aids are designed to replace the cigarettes with a patch, pills or nasal spray but still supply the body with small doses of nicotine to reduce the withdrawal symptoms. What this does it is allow the smokers to come to terms with no cigarettes but retain a smaller, reducing dose of nicotine until the body no longer graves it.

Obviously deciding whether you need a stop smoking aid is a personal decision, as is which particular one you choose to use. As for which one is the best, well that's easy, it's the one that suits and works for YOU. Sure it's ok to ask around to see what has worked for others, but as we are all different with different mind sets and different levels of natural willpower, it will always come back to a certain amount of trial and error.

You will find that hypnosis will work wonders for some smokers, a couple of sessions and they will never smoke again, for others it has absolutely no effect at all. Some smokers experience side effects from quit smoking pills prescribed by their physician, whilst other say they are brilliant. Herbal pills are another choice that many ex-smokers claim to be the best of the lot, as they have no side effects due to their natural ingredients, work like a charm and don't continue to add nicotine to your system.

There are the patches, the sprays, the pills, lazar and so it goes on, it doesn't matter, it's really all about the end result, not how you get there. So keep an open mind, if one method fails, try another, refuse to be defeated in your quit smoking goal, because at the end of the day, what ever the cost it will be way cheaper than the loss of your health.
