Are you a long time smoker who is finally trying to kick the habit? Or perhaps you have someone in your family whom you would want to help start living a healthier life by quitting smoking. If so, you may want to take a closer look at the new stop smoking drug that is making its appearance on the market.

There are actually a few of these medications that have been released recently and this early, they are already showing remarkable results in the long running battle against smoking addiction.

Some progress has admittedly been made in the past in the form of several remedies that contain nicotine, such as patches, gums, sprays and hand gels. These formulations have proven to be successful smoking deterrents in many cases, and it is likely that they will continue to be valuable aids in the effort to combat nicotine addiction.

The breed of new stop smoking drug however, does not contain any nicotine at all. They instead rely on totally safe, nicotine-free formulations that stimulate the nicotine sensors in the brain, although not to the extent that nicotine does.

One of the hardest things about trying to quit smoking is that the craving to have that accustomed nicotine dose is so strong, that for the smoker who is trying to quit, it becomes a fierce struggle to resist the urge-a struggle which more often than not ends in defeat, with the would be quitter succumbing to the temptation by finally lighting up a smoke once again. As a result, the addiction reigns supreme once more, and it may be months or even years before the smoker can gather up enough will power to make the attempt to quit again-if he ever makes the attempt at all.

The range of new stop smoking drug on the market today neatly sidesteps this tug of war between the overwhelming nicotine craving and the need to quit by providing just enough stimuli to the nicotine receptors in the brain to quell the need to have a cigarette, without encouraging any further desire for the nicotine fix. In effect, these new stop smoking drug help the would-be quitter deal with the highs and lows of nicotine withdrawal. In this way, he will not feel the need to light up a cigarette and conversely, when he does light up, it will give him far less satisfaction than usual, so that the pleasure association with cigarette smoking is largely obliterated.

There are many other sources of how to quit smoking information on the Internet and if you are serious about quitting, you should check them out. Suffice it to say though that new stop smoking drug just may hold the key to quitting for good.
