If you are like I was, thinking and feeling that there was no way to learn how to stop smoking cigarettes after it had been such a huge part of my life for 25 years, then I have some great news for you...I have quit smoking without spending a fortune on worthless pills, patches, or gum...in 1 week. And I am dead serious that you can do the exact same. I'm so excited to be sharing this information with you that will change your life and get you off those cigarettes. Here are 6, simple tips that you can use to learn how to stop smoking now:

1) Stop smoking for your family or loved ones...not your own health.

2) Begin exercising everyday - just a mile or 2, along with some push-ups/sit-ups is plenty. I know that this may seem cliche and ineffective...but, as this tip was referred to me by a 47-year old, ex smoker, it has worked for me and you won't lose anything by trying it.

3) Start recording all the money you spend on cigarettes each week and think about how much money that you could save by stopping.

4) Set goals for yourself. Write down your goals and look at them everyday. The power of goal setting is very underestimated in today's society.

5) Start drinking a lot more water, not flavored water or gatorade, just good ol'fashioned H20.

6) When you crave a cigarette...drink a cup of pure, herbal tea...you'd be surprised how effective this tip can be. I found this out by accident when I was trying to learn how to stop smoking cigarettes when I just drank a cup of hot, herbal, green tea for the heck of it and actually felt better and didn't crave cigarettes as much.

Many people, many of whom are ex-smokers, believe that quitting smoking is hard. Truth is, you can quit smoking right now, easily, and without any withdrawal symptoms...all by quitting in a different manner from most people.

The most important thing to remember about quitting smoking is that you believe that it is hard, and that very belief makes it hard for you to quit. Trying to quit through all the other hokey "methods" out there doesn't really help, either.

The second thing is that when you stop, you aren't giving up anything. You're freeing yourself from the awful prison that cigarettes have you in, and that's one of the most liberating things you can do for yourself...as long as you know that. Otherwise, you'll be fighting against yourself the entire time, cursing yourself for trying to stop.

When you realize that quitting is an entirely positive thing (and that there isn't a thing to miss about smoking), you won't even be bothered by other smokers, or normal things that trigger you to smoke. The key is to understand the difference between what you think cigarettes do for you (relaxation, etc.) and what they actually do (temporarily relieve the anxiety and lack of concentration that they themselves cause) and that makes it very easy to stop.

Knowing where you need to be to quit, and actually being there mentally is the hardest thing that you'll need to do to quit smoking. Luckily, that's just a bit harder than reading this article.

Studies have proven just how harmful smoking can be to our overall health. If you're like many people, you probably got hooked on cigarettes when you were a teenager, and never realized how difficult it would be to kick the habit. The main problem is that your body now craves the nicotine you take in with every cigarette, and you're actually physically addicted to the nasty, terrible habit.

When you decide to stop smoking, you can either choose to get help from various smoking cessation aids, or try to quit smoking naturally.

It might be tempting to use a stop smoking aid. You can find a variety of pills, gums, patches, and other products that claim to help you kick the habit. But if you're worried about medication side-effects or worried about substituting one addiction for another, you can try some simple ways to quit smoking without the use of drugs.

It will definitely take some determination and commitment for you to stop smoking. Nicotine is a very addictive drug, and your body will continue to crave it when you stop inhaling it. So, give yourself a break, and understand that the process of quitting won't always be smooth.

To help you quit, exercise as much as possible. Exercising releases the same types of chemicals into your body that get released when you smoke cigarettes, and getting your blood moving can help you stave off your nicotine cravings.

Another way to hold off cravings is to quickly drink a glass of water when you feel a seemingly uncontrollable desire for a cigarette. This may be a short-term solution, but every hour you go without smoking will lead you closer to your goal of eliminating your addiction.

Join a stop smoking support group in your community. Sharing your experiences and receiving support will help keep you on track, and give you the motivation to keep going to break the habit. Whether you are able to quit smoking naturally, or decide to use one of the many stop smoking aids available, it's important that you keep your eyes on the prize - to stop smoking forever.

Smoking is dangerous to our health. It can bring about lots of serious diseases to the body. However, many people still choose to continue smoking even though they are fully aware of the negative consequences of this habit. A prime reason is the fact that some smokers are afraid of gaining weight as soon as they get rid of their smoking habit.

Some smokers who quit don't gain weight

Contrary to popular misconceptions, you can stop smoking without weight gain. In fact, not everyone who decides to stop smoking will gain some weight. Based on studies, some people are prone to gain more weight than others. These include people who have smoked for as much as ten or twenty years and smokers who consume at least a pack of cigarette on a day to day basis.

Among the pertinent reasons why quitting your smoking habit can probably contribute to weight gain are as follows:

a. Nicotine keeps your body weight very low. If you stop smoking, your body will eventually return to its normal weight. The normal weight will refer to your original weight if you have not smoked at all.

b. Nicotine helps you rid your body's water a lot faster than people who don't smoke. If you stop smoking, you might gain some weight because of water retention. However, water retention because of smoking will only last for as much as two weeks after you quit.

c. The act of smoking burns some calories in your body. If you stop smoking, your body will use fewer calories than what it needed before.

Despite these conditions, many people can stop smoking without weight gain. You will just have to eat healthy foods and engage in more physical activities. Believe it or not, your determination to quit smoking and prevent weight gain can lead you to a healthier lifestyle.

What to do when you gain weight

You can stop smoking without weight gain if you do it earlier, preferably before smoking becomes an addiction or an inevitable part of your day-to-day living. Remember that the earlier you quit smoking and the lesser the amount of cigarettes that you consume everyday, the lesser will be your weight gain.

On the average, people who gain weight after they quit smoking can get as much as ten pounds of extra fat added to their bodies. In cases where weight gain has occurred, here are some tips that you should remember.

a. Never panic. Gaining eight to ten pounds after smoking is normal. Unfortunately, you are not one of those lucky few who can stop smoking without weight gain. However, keep in mind that you are bound to lose that weight as soon as your body's metabolism adjusts to the absence of nicotine in your body.

b. Eat right. Never let yourself go hungry. If you are not among the lucky quitters who can stop smoking without weight gain, you have to eat frequently, but in small amounts. This method of eating will help you maintain a high energy level. Also, avoid eating foods that are rich in calories. Try to eat those that are rich in fiber and nutrients. These include fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.

c. Avoid drinking beverages with alcoholic content. People can stop smoking without weight gain if they avoid indulging in activities that can bring high doses of calories to their body. Drinking alcohol is one of these activities.

Out of curiousity, I had to know what the most successful ex-smokers have done. There are 10 ways to quit smoking and they really quite easy to do. Keep an open mind and spend the next 10 minutes of your time picking a few methods down on paper.

Here are the top 10 ways to quit smoking for good.

1. Chew Gum

Items like carrots, bread-sticks, hard candy, chewing gums and even straws can give you something to "stay busy" when you really crave a cigarette.

2. Pick Up An Active Sport

Try to go for some exercise like running or a certain sport whenever you really want a cigarette and avoid spots where you normally smoke.

Not only does it keeps your mind off smoking and more energy but also helps you control your weight. A nice 3-in-1 benefit for you.

3. Floss Everyday

This may sound amusing to you, but just think about it. You'll save money, smell better (by keeping mouth plaque at bay), you will be healthier. What else could be better?

4. Brush Your Teeth Often.

Among the top 10 ways to quit smoking, this definitely goes hand in hand with method 3. Imagine white flashy teeth and the sexy gums to show when you smile.

5. Get Stuck On Eating Chocolate

Besides being sweet, it is more fun I tell you!

You definitely will not get toothache since you're already brushing and flossing your teeth regularly. Milk chocolate is one of your snack foods that is least likely to contribute to tooth decay, since it contains phosphate and other minerals. Don't drool.

6. Keep A Pen

Or a pencil handy. So, every time you get a real craving grab a hold of the pen or pencil like it was a cigarette. If you could get yourself a stick of gum like mentioned in method 1, chew on it.

7. Drink Lots Of Water

Just drink water regularly. You will agree that this method would be the most common among the 10 ways to quit smoking. In fact, water will help flush nicotine from your system and reduce the intensity of withdrawal symptoms.

8. Avoid Caffeine After 6pm.

Okay, I love coffee too. However, this is an actual contribution from a fellow ex-smoker. Studies show that, people who have high blood pressure are likely affected by the combined effects of smoking and drinking coffee. Why after 6pm? Start here.

9. Cold Turkey?

Here's a little something you can do as an alternative, instead of smoking when you get up and after breakfast, smoke after one or the other. Cold turkey is not something I want to push to you as one of the top 10 ways to quit smoking. That's why you have an alternative here.

10. Don't Put It In Your Mouth

Don't light it. You know what I mean.

These are the most popular and recommended 10 ways to quit smoking genuinely expressed from the heart. Start living that smoke free life you always wanted starting today.

I know that you may be thinking that trying to quit cigarette smoking seems impossible because I know that I did. You see, those evil cigarette company executives sit around their shiny, expensive table thinking of ways to make more addictive cigarettes and more people to smoke them and suffer.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it doesn't involve wasting lots of time and money on the patches, pills, and nicotine supplements. I was extremely skeptical about smoking addiction cures as I was a smoker for 25 years - more than half my life - and I had tried all of those ways above and more to try to kill this deadly habit.

Before I tell you what this is which I know will change your life so much as it did mine, read about this tip that I found out helped me a lot on my journey to quit cigarette smoking.

1) Dig deep and find a reason other than your own, personal health's sake to quit for.

Now I know that you know that smoking is very bad for your health and I know that you're tired of hearing about that all of the time, because, it's not that we smokers smoke because it's bad for us.

But just do some soul searching and find someone who you love or care about to quit for...whether it's your parents, wife, husband, kids, boyfriend, girlfriend, friends, or just so you can enjoy your retirement more and live longer. Find a reason to quit cigarette smoking other than yourself. You'll be surprised how much that will work for you as it did for me.

My reason to quit was for my wife and kids. I found out how much money I was wasting on killing myself with those cigs every week and now use that money to put into my kids' college funds. Quit for someone you love.

To some, it is hard to stop smoking without medication. The thought of trying to quit without using nicotine replacement therapy is frightening. But there are a few things you need to know before you purchase these products.

For starters, you should consult your doctor before you make any sudden changes in diet or exercise. You should definitely let her know that you plan to stop smoking and she will inform you of any problems you may face. She will know the pro's and con's of nicotine replacement products and will be able to help you decide what is best for you.

To combat your addiction to nicotine you have to understand that there is two forms of the addiction that you will have to fight. The physical addiction and the mental addiction. Each has its own problems and weaknesses. You just need to know how to fight them.

The physical addiction is easy to fight. Simply replacing cigarettes with a nicotine replacement product will usually make the physical addiction happy on its own. Some people will carry a pencil or pen in their hands since it has the same general shape. Others will chew on a straw to curb the need for something in your mouth. There are many more ways to fight the physical addiction, you will likely end up finding your own method to beat it.

In order to stop smoking without medication you will have to face the mental addiction head on. This is where you will need an abundance of willpower to overcome your cravings. The mental addiction is responsible for the desires of the physical addiction as well, so ultimately your final battle will be here.

To stop smoking without drugs you are going to fight a hard battle, but it is not much more difficult than trying to quit with drugs. But, how do you quit smoking cold turkey without reverting back to cigarettes? You have to fight the mental addiction head on.

The physical addiction is easy to fight. You can simply replace what your body wants with other things. You can replace nicotine with a patch or some gum if you must. The act of holding a cigarette can be replaced by holding a pen or pencil. You can replace the need to have something in your mouth with a drinking straw. Overall, the physical addiction is easily amused by other means.

Fighting the mental addiction will be one of the hardest things you ever do. Your mind has turned smoking cigarettes into a habit that must be done as a part of daily life. To you, the act of smoking is as necessary as breathing or taking a shower. The overall desire to light up and smoke will eat at you and make you want to give up.

This is where you need to dig in, take a deep breath, and exhale slowly. Many times you will find that this simple act can help. You should also add in some exercise to keep yourself moving and your mind off of cigarettes. Instead of smoking a cigarette you should take the dog for a walk or shoot some hoops.

If you truly hate physical activity you should replace smoking with anything you don't associate with smoking, like going out to the movies where you cannot light up. If you want to stop smoking without drugs you are going to need an abundance of willpower, but this is a battle can can be won.

There are many alternatives available today to help stop smoking without using nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) This includes a great variety of self help material, counseling and drugs such as Zyban or even Prozac. Quitting smoking is not an easy thing to do and as the great Mark Twain said, I quote "Stopping smoking is easy. I've done it a thousand times." However, back in the days of Mark Twain, he had no idea that he was battling with an addiction to nicotine, but today we now realize that this nicotine dependency has to be dealt with.

And we do not all have the willpower of General De Gaulle who was a heavy smoker. He just realized one day that the cigarettes were controlling him, and not  the other way around, so he just stopped! But we are not all made of the same stuff. Physical, psychological and emotional addictions are very difficult to control and changing the way we do things is also not easy, particularly if we still want to be around others who smoke. You can't all of a sudden stop being friends with smokers because they smoke and you don't want to.

Making use of free government telephone counseling services is a good route to take to quit smoking without using NRT. These services have shown excellent results in the states that operate them and they have seen smokers able to stop twice as fast as others who do not make use of these services.

As nicotine is such a difficult drug to give up, in order to be successful it is not only about the smoker. It is about the kind of support and encouragement they receive from others. This includes counselors, friends, family and the people they work with, all of these people play a role in the support team of someone trying to quit smoking. We often hear ex-smokers say that they would never have been able to quit if it was not for the support they were given.

Any smoker who wants to stop is able to receive all the information they need from local support groups, hospitals, employers, health clubs, and health insurance companies. The best support does however come from trained counselors who specialize in this are of expertise.

You can receive both group and individual counseling or as we said before, simply over the telephone. A counselor will assist the smoker to recognize the emotional and psychological issues that arise when they first stop smoking and withdraw from nicotine. It is not an easy task as the addiction to nicotine is one of the strongest there is.

The thing to remember is that once you stop smoking, the nicotine remains in the body for as long as three to four days and it is when this period is over that the withdrawal symptoms begin to manifest. These are liable to last just a couple of days or in some instances even weeks. It is this time when the support is needed most so that the smoker has someone to turn to rather than back to the cigarettes.

The beauty of using counseling to get over the urge to smoke is that you don't have to use NRT, and you also don't have to use any dangerous drugs. Clinical studies have shown that when a smoker received the correct counseling or attends a specialist clinic, they are four times likelier to succeed in their attempts to stop smoking. Trying to do this completely alone has been found to be the least successful strategy of all.

Smoking is one of the most harmful and dangerous habits one can possess. They are not only harmful to those who smoke but are also very harmful to those around the smokers. Smoking causes lung cancer and mouth ulcer which can be very hard to treat and in many cases result in death. Second hand smoke is also very dangerous as these fumes are rich in carbon monoxide and are thus very harmful for anyone who inhales these toxic fumes.

Even the tobacco manufacturing companies these days have started to print a warning on their products to make the buyers aware that these products are injurious to health. The nicotine in the cigarettes is also very dangerous as it affects the brain and can damage brain cells or cause temporary illusions. Although the quantity used is insignificant; the harmful effects of the drug cannot be ignored.

Many people cannot get rid of this nasty habit because of nicotine addiction. They try to leave the cigarettes but cannot as they lack of nicotine to with the body had become so used to causes feelings of anxiety, restlessness, sleeplessness and in some cases fever. Therefore most people are afraid of these feelings and thus do not have the courage to quit smoking.

Well first things first, nothing in this world can be done without determination. One needs the determination and dedication to purpose to accomplish the goals and without dedication it would be almost impossible to attain any result what so ever. There are different aids which can help the smoker get rid of the habit but they are either expensive or not suitable for some smokers.

Still one should try to avail these facilities which include hypnosis therapy, laser therapy and rehabilitation centers as they are designed specifically to help smokers get rid of their addiction. But if one is unable to avail such facilities then one must rely on sheer determination to get rid of this nasty habit. Ask help from your friends and family as they will be able to help you distract yourself and maintain focus on the task at hand. The journey is indeed very difficult but the end result is worth the hardships.

Would you like to quit smoking in an easy and safe way? In the effort to quit this addiction, people employ many different techniques most of which fail in the long run. Stop smoking hypnosis technique has however been used by many individuals to great levels of success. The success rate of the technique depends entirely on how discipline and motivation are handled by the individual. The technique is found as effective and beneficial due to many reasons, some of which are discussed in this article.

There are two types of hypnosis used which are self directed where an individual manages it himself by use relevant resource materials such as tapes and DVDs. The other model entails attending sessions facilitated with a trained and skilled hypnotherapist. All these methods command a great deal of commitment and motivation with the later effectively provided by the hypnotherapist and other individuals who have succeeded in the same quest by the use of this technique.

The use of CDs and DVDs is definitely cheaper than the model of attending sessions with trained hypnotherapist professionals. Watching these recorded materials is also convenient for they can be used at any time. The choice of method to be used by an individual is subject to the considerations of factors like convenience and cost. One needs to consult with a doctor first before deciding on the method to be used.

The technique works by achieving a state of relaxation whereby the mind of an individual is open to receive suggestions into the plane of the subconscious. People have however associated this method of quitting being a smoker with turning the individual into a slave with no control over their own mind. This is not true since you cannot be forced to do something against your consciousness when in a hypnotic state.

The subconscious mind is able to receive suggestions but it is not accessible in the normal consciousness. Smoking has been associated with pleasure in the subconscious mind hence medication alone will not be effective since it will only be dealing with the conscious mind. It is hence true that a combination of this technique and pharmaceutical drugs effectively helps in quitting the addiction. Apart from just stopping smoking, hypnotherapy is also associated with impacting improved lifestyles to the individuals.

In order to quit the addiction, the technique involves altering the condition of the subconscious mind by adjusting it to realize the necessity of quitting being a smoker. This is not possible without willpower for it is needed in every step and action. The power bestowed in our inner mind is effectively unlocked and considering the fact that our imagination is stronger than the willpower the person can easily change from the behavior.

All models of hypnosis whether employing the CDs and tapes or attending sessions with a professional hypnotherapist involves listening to positive ideas; suggestions along with guided visualizations which make a person see the need of quitting. The desire of quitting is gained slowly and finally takes effect.

It is always advisable to do a research before attaining the services of a hypnotherapist. It is only through effective application of the technique with a qualified therapist who will apply a good level of knowledge and skill making the process ethical and safe that an individual will get quality service.

Do you need a ton of reasons to give up smoking? It costs a lot, causes your outfits to smell terrible, and ruins your teeth. Bad breath is also a depressing side effect. Here are some tips to help you stop smoking.

Initially, you need to find out the reasons you want to smoke. Are you more apt to have a smoke under stress? Do you crave a smoke in the morning with coffee or in the evening with a beverage? Identifying exactly what compels you to light up is enormously helpful in shaping a line of action to stay away from cigarettes.

Then, you need to identify a means to keep these fixations under control. You can make use of your willpower to not have a smoke, however, this method is not always effective. When you first start to stop using nicotine, you can have fierce cravings and your resentment could be simmering just under the surface. If you notice yourself smoking while you enjoy your coffee, try to reduce your coffee consumption during the day. For outside-only smokers, you should make an effort to stay put inside if you sense an urge for a cigarette happening.

The third step might be the easiest. Find every object that's connected to smoking in your home and your automobile and clean it out. Put your ashtrays, lighters, matches and smokes in the trash. If you come across something that you really feel that you can't dispose of, try to keep in mind that this object might also trigger your weak spot and devastate all of your progress from quitting smoking.

Ultimately, concentrate on your purpose. Don't you suppose it would feel great to let people know that you have stopped smoking?

Don't use them!

We both know that medication does not work when it comes to quitting. I've tried it all, gum, patches, everything. I never got anything out of them, and usually no one ever does.

I was smoking around 40 cigarettes per day. No matter what I tried, I could not stop. I even tried to quit little by little, and I would just end up where I started, smoking to satisfy the craving. I became very desperate, and I had already spent tons of hard earned money, only to see no results. I would've done almost anything to stop smoking. Then one night, a night I will never forget, I found the solution. I quit in only two weeks. You probably don't believe me at all right now, so I'm going to show you how to quit smoking without medication, guaranteed, no gimmicks.

They helped me

These simple tips helped me along the way, and I hope they help you too.

4. Avoid any alcohol as it will only make quitting harder for you

5. Stay away from places and activities that link you with smoking

6. Come up with some new activities to do, these will keep your mind off of smoking

You probably would not believe me

If I told you about how you can quit smoking without medication, guaranteed, in only 8 weeks or less. Well do you?

I'm not joking around here. I quit in about 2 weeks, which is pretty amazing. I know people who have quit in a matter of days. This is no exaggeration. Thousands of people have used the same exact methods and have quit smoking and never picked up a cigarette again.

Many people who want to kick the habit are wondering how to quit smoking naturally. Well there is good news; you can quit smoking without medication. As a matter of fact, there are a few natural options that are available; some of them are more effective than others.

There are some good reasons you may want too avoid medications to quit smoking. Medications tend to get expensive. They can also have numerous scary side effects. Some popular stop smoking medications have side effects that range from dangerous physical side effects to disturbing psychological side effects. Some of these medications have no more than a 40% success rate making smokers not want to risk these side effects for the small chance that they will actually work.

If you want to quit smoking using a natural method you have options. Here are a few methods you can try that are all natural without the side effects of medications.

Hypnosis-Some people have found hypnosis helpful to stop smoking. It is supposed to work by being brought into a state of very deep relaxation by a hypnotherapist. The hypnotherapist will then explore what motivates a person to smoke and offer hypnotic suggestions to remove the urge to smoke.

Acupuncture-This is a technique that has its roots in traditional Chinese medication. Small needles are placed in strategic pressure points that are supposed to remove cravings for smoking. This technique obviously will not work for those afraid of needles.

NLP-NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. It is a branch of psychotherapy that has been around for many years but has only recently been used to help people stop smoking with amazing results. A recent test showed an astonishing success rate of 97%. NLP does not have to be applied at a doctors office. Its benefits can be gained in your own home through a simple audio session. This is a great option for those who want to know how to quit smoking naturally.
