Chantix is the trading name of U.S. for varenicline drug developed by Pfizer and released for general use in 2006. He received some media attention due to his exceptional success rate (claimed). Pfizer website maintains a 44 percent success rate that makes a drug very interesting and potentially profitable. The most commonly accepted ' success rate ' is however only 22%.

As with Zyban, other well-known quit smoking help, there are a number of effects to be taken into consideration with Chantix.

Chantix side effects are known to include more seriously, severe nausea until 30% of people who try to quit smoking using Chantix, had to discontinue treatment because of this side effect being so strong. Bowel disorders such as constipation, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, excessive indigestion and excessive flatulence were mentioned as well as vomiting.

Other side effects of Chantix are known include headache, difficulty sleeping (insomnia), anabnormal dreams, nightmares, drowsiness and dizziness.

Other people have reported side effects of Chantix include a change in their sense of taste (no-not fashion or of the opposite sex!), dry mouth and changes in appetite for food and sex! They also reported increased incidence of airway infections, mood swings, restlessness and tremor.

Some people also notice an increased need for the bathroom, chest pain, palpitations and skin reactions like rashes or itching.

After you have listed all these potential side effects however, it is important to note that not all side effects happen in every person. Of course, many people suffer from too nauseous to continue with treatment, but many of the other side effects are quite delicate and potentially a small price to pay for quit smoking.

It is also important to note that many of these side effects of Chantix occur when people stop smoking anyway they are commonly attributed to nicotine withdrawal. Of note, dry mouth, airway infections, mood swings and anxiety, tremor and chest pains are all attributed to nicotine withdrawal too.

It is also important to mention, despite his short-lived support for success rates of 44%, rates of long-term success of Chantix are similar to that of Zyban. Zyban is made more effective by using nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and Chantix is more effective if patients take NRT after finishing the course of 12 weeks. You can read my views on nicotine replacement therapy in the article; Nicotine Replacement Therapy scam

Both Zyban and Chantix are used in conjunction with consulting support for smokers, as well as NRT. The drugs themselves don't fully own std and certainly not come back with the money guarantees and that is on top of the side effects of Chantix listed here.

Despite all this, if you want to stop smoking, no matter how many times you don't realize it, just keep looking. Never stop trying to quit!
