There are many smoking cessation methods available through many means including, books, videos, CDs, workshops, consultants and for download on the internet. There are many smoking cessation methods out there, there are often many funny among those approaches much more reasonable.

Just my take on quit smoking came about after many months of research as many methods to quit smoking as I could. I've come to realize over time that the most important method to quit smoking came exclusively from myself. The answer did not lie in a pill or potion or some laser. The answer as far as stops to smoke comes from within. It is about having the right mindset.

Allows you to watch the common methods to quit smoking that most smokers will fight with several times before succeeding and becoming smoke free forever.

Cold Turkey or willpower. This is the most obvious method to quit smoking. Get up one day and say ' no ' to cigarettes. Sometimes, people take a bit more time on this method and fill out diaries to identify triggers and detail when and how much smoke. Only 1 in 20 people trying to quit using this method will succeed. Or to put it another way, if you try to 20 times you could actually do it!

Nicotine replacement therapy or NRT. This is the patch, gum, lozenge, microtab, inhaler or nasal spray help smoking cessation method. It's much-vaunted by the pharmaceutical industry as a means to help smokers to quit. Boasts a success rate of 10%-from 1 to 10 people quit smoking. However, it is often overlooked that while 1 in 10 quit smoking, do not overcome their nicotine addiction-why smokers smoked in the first place.

If you are addicted to nicotine, so you're always at risk of relapse in the spiral of despair that is the cigarette smoke and send yourself into an early grave.

I'm 100% against smoking cessation using NRT. It is not a reasonable way to tackle nicotine addiction. If you want to learn more of my opinion about this topic, visit my blog at: nicotine therapy scam

Zyban is another of the many ways to quit smoking. The drug is also known as wellbutrin/bupropion and although unknown exactly how much, seems to interfere with the brain chemistry of a smoker and put them outside to smoke. Legend has it that the factor of smoking cessation Zyban was seen only while studying effects of wellbutrin, anti-depression drugs.

Zyban boast about its effectiveness as a method to quit smoking as NRT, but this can be improved 50% or thereabouts when NRT and Zyban are used together. However, the use of these drugs also goes hand in hand with some form of counseling to motivate smokers to quit.

The new ' wonder drug ' by taking the market is Chantix Varenicline (Champix in the United Kingdom). It is reported to be able to wean down to 44% of smokers out cigarettes. Once again, as Zyban, you don't know exactly how it works, but it is thought to interfere with the brain chemistry of the smoker.

Both Zyban and Chantix as methods of quitting smoking include dangers. Zyban is known to cause seizures in some patients and varenicline causes extreme nausea until 30% of patients. Both drugs require a course of advice alongside medication to be effective.

Hypnosis is another well-known method to quit smoking. I understand (though I'm not a big fan of hypnosis) that can reach success rates far better than any of the previously mentioned methods. Methods to quit smoking that are available, hypnosis is very relaxing and do not involve medicines, that can't be a bad thing.

Another way to quit smoking is the use of cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT. It can be literally translated as ' thinking ' and ' behave ' therapy. The way that thinking and behavior are examined in order to change the way they think and the way you react to your thoughts, feelings and environment. CBT uses drugs nor your sub-conscious mind.

The fact of the matter is that most people do not ' control ' their lives; only react to their emotions and feelings. If you're feeling down, may comfort eat for example. That is not eating because you're hungry, is eating to take your mind something else.

Using CBT can be an effective treatment to help people quit smoking permanently. People who follow up who have used my course CBT, people who manage (and that is the vast majority) not only quit smoking but in reality I know will never smoke again and that is because they have a different attitude towards smoking, after using CBT.

Quitting smoking is an extraordinary result for each smoker and one that should be celebrated no matter which method is used for smoking cessation. Stop smoking and knowing that never smoke ever again can only be achieved through changing your mental attitude towards smoking, whether through counseling, hypnosis or CBT.

As always, the most important method to stop smoking is to never stop trying to stop.
